Happy National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo)!! Welcome to new readers as well as all my regular bloggy friends.
I just finished a yearly project. Each day of the month I posted on a pre-determined theme. During the month of November, I'll post a collage of all my photos on the daily theme from the past year. The theme for the first day of the month was "Hat."
*********************
As I started making these collages, I wondered to myself if any of them would omit Hannah and/or Zelda. Hannah makes an appearance here, albeit not wearing a hat in any of them. Poor Zelda was left out.
Happy New Year - The dalmatian appears again!
Cold Snap - Hannah's frosty muzzle is too cute.
Dream Getaway - In which I went to the botanical gardens in the middle of winter.
On a Hot Tin Roof - Still snowing in April and boy was I mad about it.
Trick - Sculptures of children without eyes are super creepy.
In the Books - This may be the most important of all of the posts - this is the first time I started looking for the word HAT in BOOKS. Now it's my thing.
Sorting - I still laugh at this meme.
The Last Three Days - We had a big storm and lots of trees came down.
Definitionally - What is a hat anyway?
A Trip to Costco - Christmas decor in September and NO Halloween decor. I'm STILL grumpy about this.

Obviously, I think In the Books was the most influential of these posts, although I like the sheer bravado of the Craft post in which I thought writing about hats for a year would be a good idea.

I couldn't resist another hat photo. Or maybe I'll post a hat photo on the first of the month for the rest of my life because it pleases me so much.

Which is your favorite photo?
Hats are definitely your thing now... and they suit you so well! I find myself looking for hat refs in books now too. I should just go find my own thing :)! When we took the kids to museums and galleries when they were younger, we'd look for puppies or babies or red flowers. That's what the hat quest reminds me of.
ReplyDeleteYes! I know someone who does a scavenger hunt for eyeglasses in museums. It's sort of fun to have a thing to be keeping an eye out for.
DeleteDare I say I doff my chapeau to your inspired hat idea? And your ability to make it happen.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was really silly when the random noun generator popped it into my list, but it turned out to be great fun!
DeleteI'm a big fan of selfies and gnomes, so I like the photos that have you in them and the one with the Christmas decor!
ReplyDeleteI took surprisingly few selfies for this project. Hopefully you'll find something to enjoy for each theme.
DeleteWell, this was a fun post! It the hat fits, wear it I say <3
ReplyDeleteSo many hats, so little time.
DeleteHappy first day of NaBloPoMo! I guess though this is pretty par for the course for you at this point. :) Are you planning to continue your daily posting challenge indefinitely? I am always so impressed at your creative responses to the prompts. I do not think I would be nearly as good at that as you are! I love the idea of NaBLoPoMo but also feel like I am struggling to just keep up with normal life + puppy, sooooo..... yeah. :) Also struggling to keep up as is with reading blogs (well, more struggling to keep up with commenting- reading I can do in spurts on my phone but I usually never comment from my phone...), so I am a little nervous about the increased posts with NaBloPoMo! But at the same time, they're all so great, and I want to read them all!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely NOT continuing this. I'm exhausted, just started a new job, and am having trouble finding time for things like exercise and getting my stitches taken out, so November is IT for my daily posting. Most of those posts have already been drafted, so I can relax in December and maybe only post 2-3 times a week. I don't know how you have time to blog at all with your life commitments!
DeleteI'm more of a ski band girl, myself. I don't like what hats do to my hair. But you do you LOL.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hate anything that puts pressure on my head, so headbands and ski bands are out! I'll take bad hair over a raging headache every time!
DeleteThe clear winner is the first pic - the selfie of you and Hannah.
ReplyDeleteI get a giggle every time that I see the word hat now thanks to you. I also notice that I use the phrase "a place to hang your hat" for home quite a lot. I wonder what's up with that.
I have really become a hat influencer. I'm adding it to my resume RIGHT NOW.
DeleteI find it so delightful that you are going to continue your life with hats at top of mind. They will never leave you. Hopefully it doesn't turn into some Poe-ian horror, with hats haunting you. That seems highly unlikely, though. My favorite part of this post was the count list. "Me being me" -- hee hee!
ReplyDeleteHats will not haunt me! They are my friends!!!!
DeleteWonderful!! I really love the cone one. Looks like out of a harry Potter series.
ReplyDeleteYES!! It's the sorting hat on hard times. lol for days.
DeleteYes, will you ever think about hats the same way again? I think not! Let's see, my favorite... all of them that involve Hannah, and the sorting meme (hee hee.)
ReplyDeleteAwww...Hannah appreciates your loyalty.
DeleteI struggle with my birthday being at the end of August and that being fair game for that to be Halloween decoration times, so I totally get October being Christmas. Somehow that is fair and maybe March is swimsuit season?
ReplyDeleteMarch is swimsuit season in stores! I lost my hat once in March and all I could find in downtown Minneapolis was a hat in clearance at the Gap store. It's the purple one in the upper left corner. I could have bought a swimsuit or sundress, but not a winter hat or gloves.
DeleteI love these pictures, they are great. It was such an accomplishment to do the random noun challenge with your bestest friend! I'm sure you are THRILLED to be done, and just in time for NaBloPoMo! ACK!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm just going to do a post like this every day for NaBloPoMo, so at least there's that planning out of the way!
DeleteThis is hilarious. You obsession with hats. But you did have some good ones in that collage. Will be fun to follow along
ReplyDeleteIt really has kind of become an obsession. Who knew this is what would happen?
DeleteA little unrelated but do you know the hat books by Jon Klassen? I thought they were pretty funny (back in the day when I was still reading picture books with my kids) - they sure stuck in my head.
ReplyDeleteHi Home Here and There - I am a school library and adore those books - I believe Engie actually borrowed one from the library on my recommendation!
DeleteAbsolutely! Alison said to read it and I did!

I love the hat photos; my dog would never do headwear, but we do get her in pajamas here and there. Congrats to making it to the end of your daily posting project!
ReplyDeleteMy dog resents all clothes. LOL. That's her prerogative. I'm jealous of people who dress their dogs!
DeleteGreat photos! I thought I had been following you for more than a year, but I must be wrong because I remember being confused as hell when January came and you were still blogging every day, so I thought maybe you'd made the year and were going to continue forever, which, hats off, lol, but it seemed impossible. Yay on the job! Need to read back to get more details on that.
ReplyDeleteI haven't posted a lot on the job. Maybe someday when I'm more comfortable sharing details.
DeleteYou'll breeze through NaBloPoMo after all this practice LOL but aren't you glad it's over? I still cannot believe you pulled this off. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove the hat collection. Haha. That was a cool theme.
I can't believe I pulled this off, either. Will I publish something on December 1? Who knows!
DeleteI really liked your post a day project-- it was great to know there would be a new post to read on your blog
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteCongrats on completing a year! My fave photo is the construction cone LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL. It certainly makes a statement.
DeleteI love hats, too! Especially during winter.
ReplyDeleteHats for the win! I don't actually look great in hats, but I do appreciate a good hat.
DeleteI have to choose the first photo of you and Hannah of course. So cute! You really got some good mileage out of such a simple prompt.
ReplyDeleteIn the end, the prompts were helpful. I will be glad I don't have to write about hats anymore, though, that's for sure.
