4.15 Volume - Zelda Cuddles

Bestest Friend and I are doing a blog project. Each day we will write a blog post on a pre-determined theme chosen by a random noun generator. The theme for the fifteenth day of the month is "Volume."

*****************

My girl Zelda is a cuddle-seeking missile during the cold months. I have spent the last month taking photos of her whenever she is on my lap and my phone is near.  The sheer volume of these photos makes me laugh whenever I'm checking my Google Drive.

Let's do a little NGS eye spy, shall we?

1) How many photos can you see my heated vest?

2) How many appearances are made by Hannah the Dog?

3) How many times does my husband's music stand make an appearance?

4) How many times does Zelda only sit on my lap because I'm under her favorite black fleece blanket?

5) How many times is Zelda holding down her own tail because it's out of control?

I will admit that I'm not mad that nearly every time I sit down, the cat hops on my lap. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. I've repeatedly stated that my best life is me with a book on the couch with a purring cat and Zelda has been making that happen with such regularity that my best life is clearly right now.

Her kitty acne is so clear right now! I love her little white chin.

What good things does February bring for you?

  1. Can you say more about this heated vest? She looks so warm and cuddly!

    1. My husband bought me an Ororo heated vest for Christmas 2021 and I essentially live in it from October through April. It has three heat settings (the lowest heat setting, which is great for walking a dog on a cold day under a coat can last 10 hours on a single charge and the medium heat setting can last six hours, and the highest for a couple of hours). I'm basically obsessed with the vest and wear it all day long.

    2. Oooh, I have the Ororo jacket, also a gift from *my* husband. It makes walking outdoors (or shovelling snow) so much less miserable in the winter! Best gift ever.

  2. I love the volume of Zelda pics! I am ridiculously allergic to cats, which means that they love me for some reason, haha. She looks like the best reading partner..

    1. She's really an amazing reading partner. I couldn't have asked for a better one.

  3. Early in the pandemic we started taking daily selfies with the dog for no other reason than it makes us happy. You can do the same thing and have a Zelda Snuggle Album!

    1. I'll need this album when we haven't seen her for months in the summertime when she doesn't need or want snuggles from me.

  4. AW! My calico cat loves to snuggle on my lap too, and purr really loudly while she does it. I always try to take a picture because she's SO CUTE, but the photo never really do it justice. Yes, reading a book on the couch with a purring cat is probably the second best thing in the world- the first being taking a nap with a cat snuggled up next to you.

    1. I KNOW! None of these photos is particularly flattering of Zelda, but I sometimes feel like my blog friends might think I only hang out with the dog, but it's just that Zelda and I hang out all the time, but it's hard to get lovely photos of her because she's always zonked out on my lap. She is really cute and snuggly and I do spend lots of quality time with her! Here's the proof.

  5. I am SO envious of your cat cuddles! That sounds so wonderful and warm and cozy. And you can't move when a cat is on you, so it sounds like forcible relaxation, too.

    1. Ha! It's true that it really makes me sad when I have to move her off my lap. I do stay longer than planned if she's there!

  6. I don't wear my heated vest quite as faithfully as you, but it has been a LOVELY addition to my cold-weather gear and you convinced me to request one for Christmas! So, thanks for that excellent suggestion <3
I'm allergic to cats, but feline cuddles sound both relaxing AND warm for cold winter days...

    1. I'm obsessed with my vest. I can't get enough of it. I don't know how I got through winter without it.

  7. She's so beautiful! Maggie isn't just a cold-weather-lap-lover, she's year-round, but then it doesn't get super cold down here; if it did, maybe she would ramp up her demands even more! I do love a lap cat, any time of the year.

Probably the thing I'm most looking forward to this month is the theater, as Mom and I are seeing one of my all-time favorites, The Importance of Being Earnest. Can't wait!

    1. Oh, I can't wait to hear how the theater goes!! Great blogging material.

  8. My daughter is loving winter, because our dog will sleep on her bed in winter. He's too fluffy to be up there when it's not cold out. So I will say, "Mulder gets Zelda's vibe".

    1. Mulder gets it. And like Mulder, Zelda will NOT cuddle in warmer months, so we have to take it when we can get it!

  9. "Cuddle-seeking missile" - hah!
It is amazing how many different facial expressions Zelda has all while doing one thing. It's like "The Many Moods of Zelda". We used to have a cat. He wanted to be cuddly but he had a habit of overgrooming to the point of constantly leaking yellow puss everywhere, so cuddling was *not* a pleasant experience. He was just not a happy cat.
Well this week, February brought 60 degree weather and sunshine three days in a row, so that was lovely.

    1. Oh, poor little unhappy cat. :( He just wanted love.

I'm so excited for you to have such warm temps in February! It probably does feel like a tropical vacation!

  10. ZELDA. She is just so, so pretty and I would want to pet her all the time. I'm glad she's giving you lots of snuggle time right now! My cats aren't huge snugglers when I'm on the couch. Lila will let me do snuggles when I'm in bed and Ellie likes to perch on my stomach when I'm sleeping, so that's something!

    1. Oh, I imagine I'd get zero snuggles from Zelda if we lived in Florida. She's definitely only in it for the warmth during winter.

  11. I feel like I need one of these heated vests! I am cold so often, even in our house since we keep it at 68 usually.

February has lots of bday for my family - me, my niece, my BIL, and my sister! But February is not my fave month... I am glad it's short. I am really over winter by this point!

Zelda is so sweet and fluffy! Our cat doesn't generally sit on me except during the winter when I am always using a blanket. She's so rarely at our house anymore, though, so I get no kitty cuddles. :(

    1. I wear my vest inside all the time. We keep our house at 67 during the day, so I definitely wear it all day long and highly recommend it. My husband runs a lot warmer than I do, so it's a nice way for us to coexist peacefully.

Zelda is very cuddly and fluffy, but not always so sweet. Ha! She doesn't actually like pets much and if you pet her for more than a few times, she'll fight you!
