Updating My Wishlist

I have decided to just go ahead and admit that I'm compulsively adding things to my Amazon wishlist because I want the holidays to be something to look forward to, even though I know that in reality the holidays will be nothing more than just another average day.  I'm also ignoring all thoughts about how terrible people are and that half the population of the United States voted to re-elect Donald Trump, which is not something I like to dwell on.

The 99% Invisible City: A Field Guide to the Hidden World of Everyday Design by Roman Mars and Kurt Kohlstedt ($24.99 as a hardcover): I don't generally buy physical books anymore. Occasionally I'll splurge and buy a book on my Kindle, but I generally just get library books. But I want to see this book, especially the photos. I want to support 99PI, even more than I already do by waxing on and on about it every month in my podcast roundups. I want to own this book.

OCOOPA Rechargeable Hand Warmer ($25.99): A common theme in this list is going to be that I need to really prepare myself for winter. I know it's going to be hard and I have to do whatever I can ahead of time to make it through. I walk the dog three times a day. We can get this down to two if it's like twenty below zero, but the goal is always three times. I have ONE of these hand warmers and I keep it in my left pocket with the dog treats, but I would love one for my right pocket, as well, so I could easily switch which hand is holding the leash and which hand is getting some warmth.

Endless Hoop Earrings ($28.99): I have rarely worn earrings since March.  I never see anyone and they tangle in my hair and I hate when the posts dig into my neck. I have two holes in each ear and a cartilage piercing on the top of my right. The cartilage piercing is the worst. It's easily infected and the post prevents me from wearing headphones (a necessity for Zoom calls) and sleeping well.  The only time I've consistently had that hole be pain and hassle free has been when I had an endless hoop in it. That hoop broke a couple of years ago and I haven't replaced it yet. I think this is going to be a priority purchase despite the fact that it seems a bit silly.

Beetles Dip Powder Starter Kit - 6 Color ($35.99): Someone I trust got this from Amazon as a self-care treat and her nails looked amazing. I'm actually pretty terrible about shaping and painting my own nails, so I'm hoping that this would be helpful for me.  In the meantime, don't look at my hands or my feet - it's been well over a year since a professional has helped me get my nails under control.

Rocketbook Fusion ($37.00): I would love to have one of these Rocketbooks. You write in them and then you can upload all your notes and lists.  I am pretty sure this would make lots of things easier in my life, especially tracking my goals and progress on projects.  It's also absolutely unnecessary, so it's exactly the kind of thing that makes a perfect gift because there's no way I'm ever going to buy this for myself.

Ironclad Tundra gloves ($41.95): Again with the walking of the dog. Last year I wore glove liners and a pair of non-waterproof gloves and I'd take off the outer layer to pick up waste. This was not ideal and I'd like a pair of gloves that are warm, but also flexible enough that I don't have to take them off when I am cleaning up after Hannah.

Weighted Blanket ($59.99): When I used to go to the yoga studio, we would occasionally do exercises in which the instructor would come around and put weighted sandbags on us. I have never been as instantly relaxed as when that weight would envelop me.  I'm actually not in need of a weighted blanket to sleep (I could go to sleep right now, wake up for dinner, and then sleep again tonight), but when I'm awake and stressed, I think this could be a life changer for me.

Carex Day-Light Classic Plus Bright Light Therapy Lamp ($114.95): When I last looked at lamps for SAD, I lived in Minneapolis, they were hundreds and dollars, and I just decided I could deal without it.  Well, things are more dire now. It's dark at 4:45pm and yesterday I contemplated going to bed at 5:30. It's just so dark all the time and I am struggling with not just going to bed and staying there.  You can actually get a pretty decent lamp (good size, good light output) for a decent price these days. I'm strongly considering it.

And that's basically it. I could use some new sports bras and yoga/running pants that don't roll (I don't think these exist), but I would never put them on my list because who's going to buy those for me.  Here, lady, get fit. It's not a good gift idea, I guess.  Later on I'll do a post about what I'm buying for other people. Be prepared for lots of dish towels.
