CBWC October 2025 - Week Two

It's Cool Blogger Walking Club (CBWC) time. Hosted by Elisabeth, we're trying for ten minutes of intentional movement every day.

Tuesday, October 7 - A couple of walks with Hannah. This was the most cooperative I could get her to be for a photo op. She mostly wants to chew sticks and roll in the grass.

Wednesday, October 8 - Am I pissy about having to go outside in a coat and a hat? Yes, yes, I am. I had a few walks with Hannah the dog today - she's loving the cooler weather and has taken to rolling around in the grass like a champion who has never had any problems with her back which I think is the cutest thing ever - but the best walk was an afternoon walk around campus where I just wandered.

Thursday, October 9 - This dog. Are you seeing the attitude? We went for a few walks today, the two of us. I also wandered around campus an awful lot. I actually enjoy days when I have meetings in buildings that aren't where my office is located.

Friday, October 10 - Raining morning walk with my girl. I'm leaving work early and driving to Michigan, so this is our one and only walk for the day.

Saturday, October 11 - I did some yoga in the morning, but I didn't get a walk in. I was staying with friends and thought it would be rude to just get up and leave for a walk.

Sunday, October 12 - Walk with my girl Hannah first thing when I got home! It was windy and felt a bit unsettled, but we did it.

Monday, October 13 - A few walks with Hannah. Here you can see her pretending she's a hunting dog in a full pointer stance. What's she looking at, you ask? I wish I could tell you.

Who's your favorite walking companion?

  1. Pointer pup! I love it when dogs do that. What do they see? We don't need to know because they have it handled.

I got all of my walks in, but Doggo missed a few days this week. She was working through an epic case of doggy digestion woes, and there were a couple of days where she napped through lunch and after dinner, so I figured that she needed the rest. Progress over perfection!

    1. I do hope Doggo is feeling better. There's nothing worse than a young dog who has to take it easy!

  2. That second photo of Hannah is so cute. She really is a good-looking girl. What a pleasure to be able to walk a dog who is well-behaved like she is.

You look terrific in that hat! Just one reason to embrace cooler temperatures--that and your scarf wardrobe. Come on!

I love (and presently miss) my solo walks. That's my favourite way to meditate on the go and to also meet up with my own dog friends in the neighbourhood. I'd love seeing Hannah out so often every day.

    1. Yes, Nancy, it is SUCH a pleasure to walk with Hannah. She literally makes me stop and take things in that I never would if I were just walking by myself. You can't hurry when you have a dog sniffing!

Here's hoping you can get back to those solo walks ASAP! It will be so good for your soul.

  3. Since cats don't go for walks (with humans) I do all my walking alone! I agree with Nance- hat weather suits you. Hannah is very photogenic, even when she's not really cooperating with the photo op. love the pointer stance!

    1. Hannah is infinitely more photogenic than me. If only she'd cooperate more often!

  4. I walk with Sue. We get out most days but not all days.

I approve of your chapeau btw.

  5. I had to look up chapeau. I learned a new term today!

  6. I love walking with my bestie, Joy. Our conversations are nothing short of wonderful and I never tire of time spent with her. Plus, I don't get to see her as much as I'd like, so a walk is a good excuse to spend time together AND exercise.
I also love walking with my husband, and a fall trek through the woods as a whole family is hard to beat, too.

    1. I would love it if my bestie lived nearby. I'd make her walk with me every day!

  7. I prefer to walk alone, so myself, I guess? Cool hat.

    1. I would almost never rather be alone. LOL. Differences for different people, I guess.

    1. I'm truly fascinated by people who like to walk by themselves. I mean, I'll go for a solo walk, but I infinitely prefer company, canine or human.

  9. Our puppy is finally “street legal” and we did her first street walk yesterday! She loved sniffing the world beyond our yard, but disliked when a big truck drove by. (Which I kind of feel the same about haha!)

    1. When we first adopted Hannah, they were doing a massive construction project on our street - tearing up the road, putting down new pipes and infrastructure, and it was loud and there were a lot of construction vehicles. She is unfazed by big trucks now. I like that about her - you're doing it right by socializing your puppy to those times of things!

  10. She's such a good girl--so pretty and so happy to be in the cooler weather. You gotta suck it up, for her case, right?
Honestly, I like walking alone and listening to a book. But sometimes I walk with my neighbor....and I almost always bring one of my dogs (I rotate, they both get walks) but they're terrible on a leash, which is my fault. When I see people walking their dogs, and they're beahaving, I'm embarassed at my little a-holes.

    1. Ha! Hannah is mostly well-behaved, but she sometimes loses her shit at other dogs and if people sneak up behind us. And bicycles. Huh. This list is making her sound bad. I swear she's a pretty good girl. I would not trade her for solo walks!

  11. I'm jealous about how good you look in a beret (is that a beret? Whatever, I'm jealous.)
Is campus walking distance, or do you drive her there? Cool either way.
My favourite walking companion, if I'm honest, is Eve. Lucy is amusing but she can be a real jerk and my body tends to crookedness so even holding the leash throws me off a bit. I do love walking with Eve while she holds the leash. Lucy can still be a jerk though. I guess dog walks and walk walks are just different walks. Now I also feel like a jerk. Sigh.

    1. It's not really a beret - it's deeper than that. I don't look good in a lot of hats, but this profile suits me, so I go with it.

Sometimes Hannah's a jerk on the leash, too. Don't let me fool you with photos of her being a good girls. It's not 100% of the time.

  12. There’s no walk that’s as good as a walk with a dog, and my favorite may have been my girl Genevieve. Why not Mulder? Because he had to put everything in his mouth. It was annoying to have to scold him the entire time for eating olives and acorns and whatever else he came across. However, he was my walking buddy and I miss him anyway. Bibliomama is right…a walk and a dog walk are different. My walks now are easier, but lonely.
