Cool Bloggers Walking Club - Week 2

It's rare that the church lights are on when we walk by. It really is beautiful.

Sunday, April 6
47-minute morning walk with Hannah - I always try to make our Sunday morning walks longer because I have the time
42-minute walk with Hannah after lunch (admittedly I took an extra long walk to avoid doing laundry, but laundry was still happening when I got back from the walk)
30-minute walk with Hannah before bed

Those ducks were on the riverwalk until SOMEONE lunged at them. I'll let you decide who the lunger was.

Monday, April 7
31-minute morning walk with Hannah in the wind
30-minute walk with Hannah after work
13-minute walk with Hannah before bed - it was cold, windy, and I was exhausted, so poor Hannah got rushed a bit through this

"Hannah, look at me." "No is a complete sentence, lady."

Tuesday, April 8
36-minute morning walk with Hannah - it was debatable if Hannah needed her coat this morning - why is it so cold IN APRIL?
16-minute walk with Hannah after work - I had to rush this one a bit to get to my fitness class on time, but not rushed enough to skip taking a photo of Hannah with the crocuses.
33-minute walk with Hannah before bed.

If you are interested in a morning walk with Hannah when she heard an ambulance and sang the song of her people, feel free to watch the video below. It does have an ambulance sound in it, so be aware of a high-pitched sound.

Wednesday, April 9
40-minute morning walk with Hannah
35-minute walk with Hannah after work in the cold rain - I was super grumpy about this walk, Hannah was not
15-minute walk with Hannah before bed - Hannah was super grumpy about this walk because she'd already put herself to bed, I was not

Thursday, April 10
37-minute morning walk with Hannah
39-minute walk with Hannah after work in the cold and rain
26-minute "walk" with Hannah before bed - friends, we traveled less than half a mile in those 26 minutes, so let's call this a "meander"

Hannah's emo album cover.

Friday, April 11
35-minute morning walk with Hannah
36-minute walk with Hannah before bed

Saturday, April 12
45-minute morning walk with Hannah
46-minute afternoon walk with Hannah and Dr. BB - another family walk! - this was actually because I'd given blood in the morning and things had not gone well for me, so Dr. BB was treating me like an invalid and didn't trust me not to pass out on the walk
22-minute walk with Hannah before bed

Do you like to go for walks with other people? Dogs? Just yourself?

  1. I love a mix of solo walks, solo walks with the dog, and any combination of other people/dog walks. If there's no dog then I can go at my own pace and across busy streets. If there are no other people then it's game on for podcast listening. The couple's dog walk is very useful for adult conversation and things that we can't talk about in front of the kids. The family dog walk is entirely different but also valuable. If you have friends with dogs, that's a perfect social event that's good for the two footers and the four footers.

    Walking is winning!

    1. I honestly feel like a walk by myself is a waste these days. LOL. Like...I could be tiring out my dog instead of walking by myself! But you are correct that a walk by myself means I don't have to be ever vigilant for dog-related triggers.

  2. Hanna keep you fit and probably mentally healthy too because walking is so good for us.

    1. I can't imagine my mental health would be okay right now if it weren't for her. She's a true blessing for me.

  3. You see some wonderful things on your walk. I wish I had a walking companion. Putting the cat on a leash isn't exactly productive!

    1. Zelda never liked being on a leash! We tried. And then we got a dog. LOL.

  4. I love Hannah's album cover. It reminds me of Clannad album covers, so moody. She is such a well-exercised dog. And I like that you let her have a meander once in a while so that she can take her time and sniff around and relax.

My daily walks are my Me Time, especially now that Rick is retired also. Occasionally, I'll ask him if he wants to go along, and once in a while he will, but as a rule, I go alone. I love that time to myself and the way I feel out walking.

    1. A lot of our walks are meanders, Nance. Hannah will not be rushed from her sniffs or stick chews. I don't mind, to be honest. I don't want to go go go.

I don't mind when Dr. BB comes with us, but I do like when it's just me and Hannah. We get each other and don't need someone else coming in and messing with how we do things.

  5. Wow, lots of walks for you two! When we had Barkley, during the pandemic I'd walk him and then I'd walk myself, as our "walks" were like your Thursday night one. So I'd give him a slow sniffy walk and then I'd boot around. Now of course I just walk with Rex.

    1. Yeah, Hannah is more of a Barkley than a Rex. She's eager to get outside and then she wants to take her time. She's taught me a lot of patience and I appreciate that about her.

  6. I am in love with the emo album cover. Such a great photo.
As for the walks I enjoy the walks on my own but I also enjoy company at times.
I wish I would feel more comfortable walking the woods on my own. I love being out on my own.

    1. Oh, wow! I never think about my own safety and go out all the time by myself (or with Hannah who I guess is sort of protection). It's a benefit of living in a small town, I think.

  7. I would buy that album just for the cover.
I tend to usually have company on my walks and I will admit that the thought of walking a dog does sound LOVELY.
And look at that - Dr. BB makes another appearance in CBWC.

    1. Having a dog on my walks makes me so happy. She's so silly and funny. Today she was doing zoomies all over a park and there was a guy fishing and he was laughing at her, too. She brings joy on her walks!

  8. I love the video of Hannah singing and the album cover. She's a superstar!

    1. She should start a band for sure!

  9. Sometimes Ted and/or Maya would go for a walk without Mulder, which I never understood. Why? Just, WHY? THERE IS NO POINT. Having a dog with you is superior in every single way to not having a dog with you. But they would say they didn’t want him to pull on the leash (how will he learn if he doesn’t practice?) or that there were too many other dogs around (same thing). Whatever.

I love Hannah singing to the ambulance! What an absolute darling she is.

    1. Right? Why walk without a dog? IT IS A WASTE. LOL. My husband doesn't like to walk her because she's so slow and sniffy, but that's the point, isn't it? We don't have to be in a rush all the time. We can be like Hannah!

  10. I love solo walks and runs - but I also love walking with other people (and their dogs!). I'd happily walk with you and Hannah. I loved her little howl at the ambulance :)

Also: church windows are so beautiful.

    1. I'm glad people are enjoying that video of Hannah. She's usually such a quiet dog and I love the howls. It's just not her usual!

  11. I wish I had a dog to go walking with!
Sometimes I will go walking with someone - friends, the Husband, one of the kids (this latter always feels like I've won the lottery when the 13 year old goes on a walk with me.) But you know, some days, I just want to walk by myself so I can put my earphones in and listen to my book or podcast.

    1. Yes! All walks are good walks - sometimes they're good for conversation and sometimes they're good for podcasts!

  12. Ha, I love the video of Hannah hearing the ambulance. So many phases- the ears pricking up, the cocked head, etc. I can see this was an event!
My walking preference would be alone, or with a dog. I love walking with dogs, and let them stop as much as they want to sniff every single thing. I walked my son's rommate's parents dog (sorry, that was complicated- the dog was staying in my son's house) last summer and it was so fun.

    1. I knew as soon as I heard that ambulance that Hannah was going to put on a show. There was a guy in a truck next to us laughing at her. Ha!

YES! Jenny, you would be the PERFECT dog owner. Sometimes they'd have to be business (going on runs), but sometimes you get to stop and sniff things!

  13. I prefer to walk alone so I can set my own pace. But Paul is a pretty fast walker or he'll run a bit while I walk so I can still walk at a good clip. I like family walks w/ Phil and both boys, especially if they are on their scooters. I did some stroller walks w/ Will this week since he was recovering and that was really nice, too!

    That lit-up church is gorgeous!!

  14. Just myself, though this morning there were plenty of deer and even a few raccoons keeping me company.

  15. Engie, stopping lunging at the ducks!

I love that emo album cover, that's beautiful.
