YOU GUYS!! If I thought August was a shitshow, this is even worse. I was doing sort of okay until I got sick. I am having continuing respiratory issues and don't feel like I can exercise until I can breathe semi-normally. I do not think I will be able to recover from October to hit my 80% goal for the year.

Thumbs down. Way down.
I think you did a good job! I love that photo of the Riverwalk and the class there. That would be great. What is the temperature like in the mornings now? Also, as it seems like you do a few online classes, which one(s) would you recommend for a person who moves around a lot (aka can't have weights) but doesn't love slow paced yoga (would rather sweat a little)?
ReplyDeleteThis class was after work and it was unseasonably warm (in the 60s, I think). Mornings when I'm walking the dog (6ish) the temperature in the last two weeks has been all over the place - low 60s some mornings and closer to freezing some mornings. It makes it sort of hard to dress, to be honest!
DeleteI would recommend Caroline Girvan (particularly HIIT and legs) for someone who is pretty fit. You can do a lot of her workouts with just bodyweight and get your sweat on. She's actually a bit too hardcore for me. I also think FitnessBlender has good bodyweight workouts, but my husband thinks they're too easy, so your mileage may vary on that.
Considering everything you've been through, I would give you an A++.
ReplyDeleteAlso, love the outdoor yoga with the picture-perfect backdrop :)
I'm going to take that A++ with me as I'm working my fitness goal tank in the last quarter of the year!
DeleteHey Engie, you are doing just fine. Remember it's not how many times you get knocked down, but that you keep getting up again. I know this all too well!
ReplyDeleteSo you got the Covid booster and then got Covid? That sucks.
YES! We accidentally wasted October. The first weekend in October was great. The second my husband got his COVID booster and felt crummy. The next weekend I got my booster and felt crummy. The following weekend I got COVID. It was terrible timing!!
DeleteOof, Covid is the worst and bouncing back is hard. But, look at all you did during a tough month? I am so impressed! I even started my own list after your comment on my stupid ankle post about mat exercises and it's been so motivating to see what I can do when it felt like I couldn't do anything - thanks for that!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're doing something! It can be annoying to have your stupid leg in the way, but you can do so much on the mat (or a chair workout - arm workouts are doable sitting down if you're up for it). You can do it!
DeleteEngie--I feel you... My finger injury meant I couldn't do any weights/rows all month long--it was awful!!
ReplyDeleteI hope your respiratory issues resolve soon. I did see a rec somewhere not to exercise for a month after Covid... Lemme go see if I can find it...
I JUST LOOKED. It says you have to be SYMPTOM FREE for FOURTEEN DAYS before resuming "light activity." I'm not even symptom free NOW. There's no way. Those are insane recommendations. So many people start running right after COVID. I'm literally not even supposed to be doing light activity?! This is dumbfounding.
DeleteGold stars for you. So much work and then you had Covid on top. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteI looked into the free classes but unfortunately they are at times that i am either sleeping or very inconvienient. So sad.
Yeah, they are at lunchtime in CST, which is not lunchtime worldwide!
DeleteIt's ok! You are doing great! I think that is going to be my new mantra, too, but I really mean it. Keep doing your best and get back on it when you can is all that is necessary. Maybe we sometimes put too much pressure on oursleves?
ReplyDeleteYou're not kidding. I just looked up recommendations and I'm not even supposed to be doing light activity for another few days! That's crazy. So much pressure to get back at it when I really should be giving myself a break!
DeleteAs always, nice job on your overall consistency! I just got both my Covid and flu shots yesterday and the nurse (a fellow UW nurse) commented as she did them that this was the first time she ever got any symptoms from the vaccine (just a bad headache for one day, she said). In the past UW gave all its employees Pfizer, but this year it’s Moderna, so she said maybe due to that? So anyway I was sort of expecting to maybe feel crummy today, but nope! No issues at all, thankfully! (Besides a little sore arm, of course). I never had any reaction to the other covid vaccines either and I’ve had a lot of them at this point, lol! Sorry to hear you didn’t feel well after.
ReplyDeleteI've only ever had Moderna and I've suffered each time! LOL. Oh, well. I've also really had a hard time bouncing back, so I'm taking it easy still.
DeleteI tried to get a flu shot, but they wouldn't give it to me at Walgreen's because I've had dizziness/fainting with vaccines before, so now I have to wait until I'm healthy to schedule a flu shot at the doctor's office. What a hassle!
