9.15 Volume - The House in July

Bestest Friend and I are doing a blog project. Each day we will write a blog post on a pre-determined theme chosen by a random noun generator. The theme for the fifteenth day of the month is "Volume."

*****************

Look at these fish! They live in a pond at the garden center.

Right now in my house I hear:
The bathroom fan
The dog snoring
The sound of a revving engine outside
The creak of the wooden floor when I move my foot
The low hum of the refrigerator
The clickety clack of my keyboard as I type these words

*****************

What's something you can hear right now?

  1. With tinnitus I am never noise-free.

  2. I can hear the air conditioning, which is going nonstop these days. I can hear my fingers clicking across the keys of my laptop. I can hear my daughter coughing occasionally in the background (Covid tests are negative, but I am not a fan of the coughing!!!!). Just heard my stomach growl, so I think it's time for lunch.

    1. Thank goodness the COVID tests are coming back negative. Hopefully it's something benign and doesn't bother her too much!

    1. Yay for AC! I can't imagine how delightful it feels to you right now.

  4. I also suffer from tinnitus, but I can still hear my Sonos music playing Bonnie Raitt, and both the dryer and washer going behind me. Sunday Funday!

  5. I love the fish! I hear almost nothing right now. Just a little ringing in my ears. My family is still asleep, it is too hot outside for the windows to be open, but not yet hot enough for the a/c, and I am not listening to the radio. So a little ringing and me typing. :)

    1. Oh, the beautiful quiet moment in between AC and windows opened! Lovely!

  6. My daughter just left to drive her friend home, so a minute ago I heard laughing, smack-talking and Is It Cake? and frying ground beef because I found some in the fridge I needed to cook. Now I just hear the little fan next to me.

    1. I love just focusing on one sense to really ground myself. I'd love to hear some laughter before I started cooking!

  7. Right now, I can hear the traffic outside, the ticking of the clock in this room, and my hands typing. I'm really excited to move to an apartment that isn't RIGHT NEXT to a busy highway so I don't have to hear traffic all the time!

    1. YES! Get away from street noise. It's surprising about how much loud it is if you ever use a decibel meter to measure it!

  8. I'm camped out at a Starbucks in Sunnyvale, CA while I wait for my first meeting of the day. So I hear a lot of coffee shop background noise which I personally love. I love the sound of the espresso machine, the background music which is usually some sort of soothing alternative type of music. Even the chatter of people in the background is nice background music. I spend SO MUCH TIME in Starbucks when I am traveling.

  10. Well, this morning while I read this I heard birds chirping. Now, however, they have chilled out and I hear traffic (solidarity with Stephany, for sure) and am grateful that I'm no longer hearing the rather loud family that was taking pictures at the outside. (Sorry, previous comment basically told people exactly where I live - too much detail - so removed it...)

    1. It's so lovely that you can have windows open to hear birds chirping in July! What a Wisconsin temperature miracle!
