6.24 Family - In This House, We Share Fur

Bestest Friend and I are doing a blog project. Every day we will write a blog post on a pre-determined topic chosen by a random noun generator. The theme for the twenty-fourth day of the month is "Family."

*******************

When we first brought Hannah the Dog home, we were really concerned about how Zelda would handle it. That's one of the reasons Hannah was tethered to one of us or in her kennel for about a week when we first got her.

But the truth is that they have always coexisted in the true sense of the word. Hannah would love to be friends with Zelda, but she always overreacts when Zelda shows any interest in her and Zelda runs away. I think Zelda would cuddle with Hannah if Hannah would only be able to be just a bit more chill.  In the meantime, Zelda constantly cuddles with things that smell like Hannah, like this towel we used to clean off Hannah after a rainy day.

Fur family. Sometimes it's hard, but it's always cute.

  1. Pretty Zelda looks like she has an abundance of fur to share. Out Lacey absolutely wafts fur. I have never encountered a cat with a coat like hers.

    1. Zelda gets brushed every morning to prevent the wafting of fur, but we still have dust bunnies everywhere I look!

  2. Oh goodness, I WANT TO CUDDLE UP WITH ZELDA. I love sleeping in a sunbeam (literally posting partially about this tomorrow), and she is gorgeous and also looks so happy and comfortable. New life goal #NapLikeZelda

    1. We should all be so lucky as to have a life like Zelda's! So many sunbeams and naps!

  3. Zelda is a lovely cat.
She's probably as close to Hannah as she wants to be, right there.

    1. I do think you may be right and that is as close as the two will ever be.

    1. I'm so glad they cohabitate nicely, too. It was a real challenge to find a dog to adopt that had cat experience, but Hannah has definitely been good with her.

  6. Zelda looks so soft and snuggly! I love that she gravitates toward Hannah-smelling things. One of these days, you will look over and they will be cuddled up together.

    1. The two of them cuddling together is my DREAM. I will definitely let you know ASAP if it ever happens.

  7. I love cats, but they are really weird. So cute that Zelda cuddles with Hannah-smelling things! Hannah and Zelda probably get along better than my two cats do.

    1. Hannah and Zelda get along because Zelda knows she's in charge. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if we'd gotten a second cat instead of a timid dog - I imagine things wouldn't be so peaceful.

  8. Awww, I'm not normally a "cat person" (though I really love ALL animals, so, I'm not NOT a cat person either exactly- just that if I had to choose one, I'd definitely choose dogs), but this is just such an adorably sweet photo!!

    1. Zelda will make a cat person out of anyone! (I, too, refuse to be a cat or dog person - I'm an animal person!)

  9. Fur families...they're complicated. We sometimes bring the dog with us when we visit our neighbors. Their cat and our dog completely ignore each other. But if a cat comes in to our yard, the dog goes ballistic.

    1. This is Hannah to a tee. She loses her doggy mind when we see a cat on our walks, but she's so gentle with Zelda. It's like she thinks cats are only supposed to be in houses or something.

  10. Seeing her on the 'used by Hannah' towel might be the sweetest thing ever! They really do love each other, just in an usual way. I love them both. ❤️

  11. OMG, my heart is bursting at Zelda sleeping on a Hannah-smelling towel. It shows that she loves her sister, but may just want to show it in a different way. ;) My cats will rarely cuddle with one another but whenever I catch them in the act of even SITTING close together, I have to get a picture. Ha.

  12. I am so glad it worked out with the two of them - even if they are too different to cuddle together.

  13. Oh, I'd like to come sleep in the sunbeam, too. Zelda is just such a... cat. She's beautiful. I wish cats didn't make me sneeze. Sigh.
