Bestest Friend and I are doing a blog project. Every day we will write a blog post on a pre-determined theme chosen by a random noun generator. The theme for the twentieth day of the month is "Message." I have decided that I'm going to write about the last photo message I sent via text.

Anne and I met up on Saturday morning at a local(ish) Botanical Garden and Conservatory. For me, it was a chance to be someplace warm in the winter and I was looking forward to a quiet morning wandering around the plants. However, I had failed to notice that the exact time we decided to meet was also their "open house" event, in which everything was free, the usually top-secret greenhouses were open for public perusal, and there were other fun activities happening, including postcard painting and an iron pour in the garden.
So, as you can imagine, it was packed. It was controlled chaos, but chaos nonetheless.
All of that being said, it was such a lovely time. It was lovely to meet Anne in person and she humored me as I insisted we do each and every activity available to us. It was also lovely to be warm. At one point I actually took off my coat! I considered taking off my vest, but it never really got that far.
So the last text message I sent was to Anne with a photo of our delightful watercolor creations. Obviously, neither of us is watercolor experts, but I'm sure the intended recipients of our postcards will appreciate the work we put into them!
What's the last photo message you sent?
Oh, how fun!!! And you got to meet Anne! I just love this, Engie.
ReplyDeleteIt WAS fun! And it was exciting to meet someone new!
DeleteHow fun. I love that you got to meet up with Anne <3
ReplyDeleteLast photo message I sent...hmm. I took a picture of one of my son's friends playing chess at our house and sent that to his mom yesterday. I do that a lot; when kids come over to play I try to capture at least one photo and send it along because I love seeing what my kids have been up to when they're away from me.
Oh, I bet that the other moms like to see glimpses of what their kids do, too.
DeleteWhat a lovely day, despite the crowds. And a nice idea in wintertime.
ReplyDeleteThe last photo I sent was of a huge redtail hawk in the pine tree behind our house. I sent it to my husband to show him.
Ooohhh...I like that you send photos of birds to your husband. That's sweet. Also, those redtail hawks are SO BIG.
DeleteMeeting up with Anne would have been good no matter what but you really hit the jackpot with open house! The watercolors are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAt first I wasn't excited about the open house because it was more crowded than I would have liked, but it was so well-run and organized and I loved getting to see the greenhouses!
DeleteWell, I just checked my last photo message and it's so boring- a screen shot of our wifi code that I set to my daughter when she was having trouble with her phone. Okay, so I went to the second to last photo, and it's a screen shot of our weather which I sent to my son. i'm obviously the most boring person in the entire world.
ReplyDeletei love those postcards! That sounds like a fun day.
Ha! Wifi and weather. You're very pragmatic, if nothing else, right?
DeleteLove this!! I adore those gardens, and it is SUCH a treat to be warm in the winter.
ReplyDeleteIt WAS nice to actually be sweating a little bit. They keep it toasty in there and if I lived closer, I'd try to go a lot more often, especially in the winter.
DeleteI love museums and conservatories and love that they've really upped their gift store offerings since I was a kid. Those watercolors look like fun was had by all... is painting something you enjoy doing?
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't remember the last time I painted, but it was there, it was free, and I thought it would be nice to send my mom a postcard I made. It WAS fun, though and maybe I'll buy myself a watercolor postcard kit someday.
DeleteWhat a lovely place to meet. We have talked about visiting a botanic garden nearby during the winter, and you've now inspired me.
ReplyDeleteI sent my last photo message this morning. It was a quote from a book by an author that I sent to a friend. We had just talked about this author on Friday, so it was cool to see his name and quote pop up in a book I was reading this morning.
Oh, I love when life circles around like that. When the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon happens in my life, I pay a lot of attention to it!
DeleteYour watercolors are lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We're obviously not experts, but we had fun.
DeleteI love watercolors because as long as you don't muddy the colours, they are really hard to screw up and always look lovely. Like your postcards. Such pretty colours!
ReplyDeleteThe last photo message I sent was a screenshot of tickets that I bought for a friend. I was all concerned about how to get her the tickets since I didn't have a paper copy to hand her, and turns out when everything is a QR code, a screenshot will do.
Modern technology is crazy, isn't it? Sometimes I'm in awe of people who go completely paperless - I guess you don't really need paper for anything in 2023!
DeleteHow I love a botanical garden visit! Your day sounds lovely and I think the watercolor art came out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteMy last message was to my girlfriend D'Anne; we're trying to plan another visit!!
A botanical garden visit in the middle of winter is a total dream! I should do it more often.
DeleteOhhh, color me jealous that you got to meet Anne and spend a fun time with her! What a wonderful activity, too.
ReplyDeleteI actually don't send a ton of photo messages. I think the last one I sent was last week when I texted my mom a bunch of pictures I had of her dogs, since she was asking for them lol
Interesting that you don't send a lot of photo messages. It's basically how start most text threads these days!
DeleteWhat a fun meet-up, despite being there on an unusually busy day!
ReplyDeleteSo Paul threw up in the early morning hours yesterday. I was still in Chicago. He got iPad time while he laid in bed. His iPad is on my apple account, so I can see all of the photos he takes. So I sent my mom a screen shot of the photo gallery of selfies he had taken. He looked so sad and pale so it broke my heart. :( But luckily he was feeling much better by mid-day and only threw up that one time.
Awww...how sweet that you can see those photos, but how sad that they exist! It's good that he felt better quickly - it's crazy how fast kids can rebound.
DeleteAnd... of course I am too late to say thank you for posting this, and for not pointing out that yours is the beautiful watercolor with lovely colors, while mine is the drab, too-green, poorly painted one. ;) This was so much fun! and it got me out of the apartment - success! :)
ReplyDeleteI actually don't think either one of them looks bad! We both left the house - look at us meeting goals!
DeleteOMG, I love this so much!!!!!! I wanna meet both of you in person!
ReplyDeleteCome visit! I have a guest room, a cuddly cat, and a nice trail you can run if the river isn't overflowing the banks!
