Bestest Friend and I are doing a blog project. Every day we will write a blog post on a pre-determined topic chosen by a random noun generator. The theme for the twenty-third day of the month is "Atmosphere."
****************
The snow keeps falling, The temperatures keep falling. Hannah gets so excited to go outside because she sees the snow and wants to play in it, but as soon as we get outside, she gives me this look and doesn't want to leave the stoop. It's too cold to have fun in the snow! There's certainly an atmospheric Christmas vibe outside, but Hannah wants nothing to do with it.
But it's fun inside. Dr. BB makes endless cups of tea. Presents are being wrapped. Christmas cards are hung. Blog reading is caught up on. A biography of Oppenheimer is read (not by me, but another person who doesn't think reading about dragons should be a priority). The cat spends hours on my lap. Naps might be taken during kitty cuddles. Cookie batter is made. The dog snores.
Not too shabby on my end.

Being snuggy inside as the storms blow outside can be quite wonderful. The winds are really icing up here, beating the rain against the windows. Hardly typical CHRISTMAS WEATHER. (CAPS, SORRY)
ReplyDeleteIt IS delightful that neither of us is working, either, so it feels like a crazy staycation. I'm really enjoying it!
DeleteIt's currently 0 degrees F here and I don't want to know how much colder it is for you. But the hubs and I are off work today and we've got the boys and the dog, so all signs point to the perfect day.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually not that much colder here. I'm reading -11 on my computer. The snow has stopped, though, so we didn't actually get too much. The bitter cold and wind is something else, so I'm happy to stay indoors and also have the perfect day!
DeleteOh, that sounds amazing!!! Not the outdoor part- the indoor part. Poor Hannah. i love her little boots. Well, stay warm and cozy! It's in the 70s here but our temps are going to plummet tonight- not as cold as you but people in Florida don't know what to do when it goes down to the 40s. It will be a Christmas-y adventure!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm curious to see how the Floridians deal with temps in the 40s. It does feel really cold when you're used to 70s and 80s!
DeleteStay warm! The best part of these really cold terrible days is when you don't have to go anywhere in it and can just embrace it and stay cozy. Unfortunately, my husband has to go out to work (30 minute commute) this morning, so I don't like that... but hopefully all will be well. They had said potential whiteout conditions with terrible winds, but currently doesn't seem too windy out, so not sure on that.
ReplyDeleteHannah looks very cute in her outerwear!! ;)
I am worried about the people who do have to be on the roads. The whiteout conditions are real because while there's not as much snow as they had predicted, it's all just blowing around like crazy. Ugh. Safe travels to your husband.
DeleteThis bitterly cold is so awful! I can't wait for the temps to warm up to less dangerous levels. If I didn't have young kids, the cold would bother me less. But being cooped up inside with a toddler who is hard to entertain is making for some long days... but at least it will really warm up next week!!
ReplyDeleteHannah is adorable in her outerwear! I would hate to go to the bathroom in the cold!! Glad she has some layers to keep her warm!
Yes! Next week in the 40s! This is all going to melt and it's going to be like an early spring. Crazy. Let us get through this before we start worrying about flooding basements.
DeleteHahaha Hannah is so funny! Rex just LOVES the snow and we have had such a cold week - but are still walking FIVE KILOMETRES A DAY IN THIS HOTH-LIKE WEATHER. I sound like I'm complaining but honestly, it's not that bad if you can dress for it like I can. I'm not going to win any fashion awards in my snow pants and 5 layers and heated mittens.
ReplyDeleteYour house sounds very cozy!
Rex is made of much tougher stuff than Hannah, apparently. She hasn't gone further than a block and a half and that was reluctantly. I'd love to see Rex dragging you around!
DeleteHannah's face is PRICELESS. But honestly it sounds like the four of you are doing this snowpocalypse exactly right! We keep getting blizzard warnings and, yes, it is cold, and yes, there is snow and wind... but I am hoping it kind of fizzles out. And in the meantime I am making another batch of cranberry bars and contemplating making ANOTHER kind of cookie and I have Christmas music playing in the background. It is kind of perfect (until we lose power).
ReplyDeleteHer face is hilarious. She's so eager to go out, but then she just stands there like it's my fault Arctic winds have come. It sounds like your house is just as cozy as mine, so let's enjoy it while we have it!
DeleteThis all sounds so cozy and lovely! It is the polar (pun intended) opposite where we live. We're getting a huge wind/rain storm and it is unseasonably warm. I hope you get a break from the cold temperatures and enjoy the wonder of snow at Christmas...when it's safe to be outside!
ReplyDeleteOh, Hannah! That face! "This is unacceptable, mom, fix it." I'm glad you are all cozy inside. We're Florida-freezing and have to keep reminding ourselves that others are much worse off. I'm wearing so many layers!
ReplyDeleteHannah's face made me laugh! She is NOT OKAY with this weather, and I do not blame her one bit. Glad you guys were able to keep snug and cozy inside!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind puttering at home, sipping cups of tea when it's snowing outside.... as long as I don't have to "be somewhere". Well, it doesn't snow here, so.... it's not a scenario I have to deal with, but I hope you were cozy.
ReplyDeleteToday and tomorrow are also good days to be in but nothing like it was Christmas week! I am glad you were able to stay in (Hannah included... :>) and have a mini staycation together. It's so nice how much you and Dr. BB seem to actually *enjoy* each other's company!
