May 2026 Photo A Day: Week Two

Saturday, May 9 - The only photo I took all day long! Sheesh. I let Hannah loose in the football field behind the middle school. She stayed when I told her to, but refused to actually look at me to acknowledge it.

Sunday, May 10 - Is Hannah spoiled well cared for? Well, the coffee table usually sits where Hannah is laying, but Hannah wanted to be in the sunny spot, so my husband moved the table for her. If your dog doesn't get this level of care, I don't know how your dog survives.

Monday, May 11 - Look at my baby. She's a sloppy, sloppy eater and drinker. Did you know that? She makes ten times the mess Hannah does. We must clean her mat and bowls about ten times a day. BUT LOOK AT HER FACE. I think she's the cutest thing on the entire planet.

Tuesday, May 12 - I was scouting out the riverwalk on my morning walk with Hannah because we were having our fitness class later on the day and I wanted to let the instructor know if it was safe to use. It's dry from the start to the end! Silty and sandy, but dry.

Wednesday, May 13 - Look, friend, Hannah is having a time of it and I'm exhausted. This is what you get today - "notes" I took in our team meeting.

Thursday, May 14 - Hannah! Look at me! Hannah look at me! Hannah: No.

Friday, May 15 - Just a photo of my cat perfectly placed in the sunniest place she could be. She's basically perfect.

All but one of these photos is of my pets. Maybe I'm obsessed with them? Should I join a support group?

Do you doodle in meetings? What's your preferred doodle?

Your pets are glorious- your obsession is completely understandable.
Your doodles are very artistic! Mine are usually straight lines, grids, a flower, and words like stop or no no no which I then have to cover with lines.

    1. Mine are really just simple shapes. I can't imagine doodling a word because that might get me into trouble!

  2. My doodling wouldn’t be artistic, just scratches.

    1. You could probably say it's inspired by Pollock and sell it for a mint.

  3. This is exactly why coffee tables are portable. Our fur babies need their sunny spots!

That's a nice looking doodle. You had a productive meeting.

I agree that you need to join a support group. Only 6/7 pictures are of your pets, and the number should be 1000000000000000000000000000/7.

  4. Maybe I'm an enabler, but I say the more pet photos, the better! Zelda and Hannah are perfect!!! They deserve all the sunny spots in the house (obviously). I hope Hannah is feeling better by now!

    1. The sunny spots are reserved for them!

  5. You take notes the exact way I take notes! Well, sometimes I doodle layers of attached and overlapping triangles. Or circles. Or squares. I am assuming your ship doodle is on the hunt for Moby Dick.

Hooray for so many pet photos!!!! Hannah and Zelda are glorious works of furry art!

When you find that pet obsession support group, please send me the details as I am also in need of support.

    1. Yes, I definitely do a lot of triangles and overlapping images. It is the doodle way.

Hm...maybe you should get an invite into the pet obsession group as soon as you bring a pet home.

  6. If you don't rearrange furniture to accommodate your pets, are they really Pets or just hungry decor? I have had to place an ottoman on the side of the bed so that Piper, age 16 and arthritic, can get up on it. Do I have to step on and over the ottoman EVERY SINGLE MORNING SO THAT I CAN MAKE THE BED? Yes. Yes I do. And on some days, it is not easy.

During long and boring inservice meetings, I used to sit with the Art Department and trade ridiculous cartoons with them. Their drawings were way better than mine, but my captions were always better.

Where is the name of the ship? Why doesn't it say Pequod on it?

    1. I was just in a meeting all morning and I wish I had colleagues to trade cartoons with!

I never even thought of Moby Dick as I was drawing it. There's a woman on that ship!

  7. Do not mind the pet pictures AT ALL :) And yes, I doodle in meetings... my preferred doodles are swirls or squares.

    1. I love to see people's doodles. I feel like you can tell so much about someone from it.

  8. I mean I take lots of pictures of my kids.... Or actually my kids have figured out how to unlock my phone and take lots of pictures of themselves. Wouldn't it be so fun if Zelda and Hannah figured out how to take selfies? I totally see Zelda doing this.
Also - what is that purple pen you are using??

    1. Zelda would be the queen of finding perfect angles. It would just be Hannah's giant nose, I bet.

It's a Pentel pen. Purple is big on our campus and these pens are everywhere.

  9. My mind wanders during most meetings. I just consider that mental doodling!

Hopefully, the recent rain washed away a lot of that silt and sand from the riverwalk.

    1. Actually, I think the city did come and clean it up. It was in much better shape even on Tuesday afternoon when we had class as compared to Tuesday morning.

  10. LOL at the comment about what Hannah’s selfie would look like. I just sent you one that might as well be Mulder’s. All nose.

  11. I doodle any time I have a pen and paper in front of me and am not allowed to move away.
Lucy will never look at me on purpose for a picture either. In Zelda's defense, having a face that fluffy would make it hard to eat and drink neatly! And good lord, who WOULDN'T move a coffee table if it was hogging the only sunny spot? What is even the POINT of having a pet if you wouldn't do that? We make people move off of Lucy's spot on the couch! Now I don't know if you're normal or I am also loony.

  12. I swear 75% of my photos from my photo project are of my cats (or my mom's dogs) so I totally understand. They are great subjects, and more Hannah and Zelda is NEVER a bad thing. Zelda's little paws in the last picture are KILLING ME. Such a little lady.
