It's Cool Bloggers Walking Club (CBWC) time! Hosted by Elisabeth, we're trying for ten minutes of intentional movement every day. This the last week and Hannah and I tried to make the most of it.

37 minute walk with Hannah the Dog first thing in the morning - I WORE SANDALS AND NO COAT. This is not a drill. Warm weather has (maybe?) arrived.

45 minute morning walk with Hannah - She's really a morning dog and this is the only walk I can reliably get her to go on without being a brat about the whole thing. She's a true delight on morning walks.
27 minute walk with Hannah after work. Remember how I said something about the weather changing earlier in the week? Well, I was wearing a coat, gloves, and mittens on this particular walk.

40 minute morning walk with Hannah - Creepy, cold, foggy morning.
But can I tell you what PURE JOY is a dog who is allowed off leash in a random fenced playground for zoomies in the morning? SO MUCH JOY. Nicole recently wrote about how her dog tracks in dirt and leaves and she's constantly trying to keep her house clean. Here's the quote: Of course, the first thing he did after I drove him home from the groomer’s was to roll around under the grapevines, meaning that his pristine cleanliness lasted exactly 17 minutes, possibly a new record. Well, as I say to my husband when he complains of dead patches in the grass, you can have spotless floors and a perfect lawn OR you can have a dog, and I CHOOSE JOY.
You know what? Me too. Her paws and belly were muddy and needed to be washed before the day could continue, but I CHOOSE JOY.

And that's a wrap on April CBWC. Can you believe it's May today? Where are you walking today?

I love having a clean and tidy space, but I love having a happy dog more. Anytime she gets muddy she was having fun!
ReplyDeleteRight? If she's having fun, who am I to stop her?
DeleteYour dog is SO photogenic. I'm glad you are leaning into the glamour shots, and that your readers get to benefit from them! I love the Abbey Road pic; adorable.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the basketball, before I read your caption, I thought UH OH. So maybe Hannah is completely justified in her discomfort? I mean, A BALL where a ball SHOULDN'T BE????
She's not always cooperative about photos, but that doesn't stop me from taking them!
DeleteWith Hannah, you must lead the whole CBWC in walking time.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a competition, although people with dogs definitely would have an advantage if it were.
DeleteWE CHOOSE JOY
ReplyDeleteWe are on a road trip right now and it was kind of amazing. The back of the car, which I keep covered with a waterproof carseat cover thingy, was clean. By the end of the day, it was absolutely filthy, even by Rex standards. How? We only took him for short little walks when we took breaks. There was no mud. What happened? I DON'T KNOW.
Rex is a dirt magician. He can make it appear from anywhere!
DeleteJOY FOR THE WIN! As I have complained mightily about, we are currently dogless. My house is cleaner, my bank account happier, but BAH, I would much rather have a dog. Again, making things about me.
ReplyDeleteI LOL’d that you didn’t eat the cat food and get sick all night. Good job. Also, love the Abbey Road photo. Hannah is so clever. Mulder used to be terrified of umbrellas and fire hydrants. Just the first few times he saw them, then he was all blasé about them like, ‘what, me? Never.”
Ugh. Balloons and umbrellas still get poor Hannah. Oh, well. At least we know it and can help her with her challenging objects.
DeleteHannah is pure joy! The basketball looks pretty scary, lurking behind the plants like that. I also laughed out loud that you didn’t eat the cat food and get sick all night! A glamor shot setting sounds cool - I’ve never come across it.
ReplyDeleteWell, a foggy morning in my town can lead to a lot of glamour shot settings! It doesn't happen often, but I like to take advantage of it when it does.
DeleteI WANT A MEMBERSHIP (AND POSSIBLY TO BE AN OFFICER) IN THE HANNAH FAN CLUB. Her photos are incredible. You're lucky she puts up with you LOL. That last shot, though! Keep 'em coming. (Frame "Hannah Abbey Road"--I'm so serious. Inspired!)
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad that you didn't eat the cat food. I can barely stand its smell when I feed Piper, especially anything salmon, fish, or tuna flavored. Ugh.
Zydrunas, my granddog, dragged me 30 feet once because he saw a silhouette of a dog, which was put in my lake-neighbour's yard to ward off geese. So! Consider Hannah well-trained.
You get to walk in such a beautiful area. I'm so jealous.
Ha! If such a club is ever started, you'll definitely know all about it.
DeleteThe cat food is repulsive. It makes the whole house smell. Unfortunately, the cat doesn't like it, but the dog does, so we have to be vigilant and we were not on that one evening and I paid the price!
I took an early morning walk through the foggy woods. Out the door at 5:15 a.m., and this was the first day it was light enough that I didn't need to switch on my headlamp. Progress! Thank you so much for the birthday card, by the way. I appreciate that! :)
ReplyDeleteYes! The sunrise is before 6 now, so I'm missing it most mornings. On one hand, it was nice to see it once in a while, but on the other hand, what a true delight to be able to walk in the daylight!
DeleteI forgot to say that I love your caption on the lilac photo. That's exactly how I feel, too! AND--when you encounter a hopscotch board, do you play? I used to all the time on my walks, and I didn't care who saw me.
ReplyDeleteOF COURSE I DO THE HOPSCOTCH BOARD. I live in a society and that is the rule of SOCIETY.
DeleteA well exercised dog is a happy well-behaved dog-- love this!
ReplyDeleteShe's definitely well exercised. As for happy or well-behaved, well, those words have lots of definitions.
DeleteThose photos are GORGEOUS. Hannah is GORGEOUS. Though, naughty Hannah eating the cat food. And ugh for having to be up dealing with it at 1 am.
ReplyDeleteI don't often feel jealous of people writing about dog ownership (and it simply would not work for our family), but I feel pangs of jealousy when I read your posts, Engie!
Well, don't feel too many pangs of jealousy. It's mostly walking, yelling at her to not chase the kitty, and staying up all night with her because she has GI issues. I mean, it's not glamorous, despite her photos!
DeleteHee hee! These posts could be super mundane- I mean, how many ways can you say "I walked the dog"- but it turns out there are SO MANY WAYS. I love the photos and the commentary, and yes Hannah does look slightly worried about international politics.
ReplyDeleteYes, absolutely. It would be very boring without photos, I think. Fortunately, I live in a pretty area, so I can get away with it. (Also, hey, Jenny - I walked the dog again today. Can you believe it?)
