45-minute body blast class at the community center after work- I did everything low impact. It went okay, but breathing is not always easy. I'm starting to wonder if it's just because I'm deconditioned since I haven't done cardio in weeks.

Ugh. So far away from my 80% goal. The first third of the month was really tough, though, with me recovering after being sick. I think I turned things around in the last half, but I think my chances of getting to 80% for the whole year are very slim.

What's your working out game plan for December? It can be hard to fit things in around holiday celebrations and obligations.

  1. I guess it's because I was away, I didn't realize you were so sick, Engie! I think you had a great month given everything *waves arms around* but especially from being sick and having breathing trouble. My game plan for December is same as always, but around the holidays I always take extra rest. It also depends if we have houseguests or not, at this moment we don't, but I'm hoping our friends will make it out for New Year's.

    1. Ugh. I have to admit that I'm still recovering - I kept testing positive for weeks and still am congested/have some respiratory issues. Oh, well. I'll keep on keeping on and some month I'll get back to full strength.

I like the idea of some extra rest during the holidays - it makes them more special!

  2. Being sick really messes everything up! It's funny because while I was reading this, I felt like I could have written some of it. For completely different reasons, the area under my right breast was very sore and it was difficult to breathe. I'm glad you're feeling better now. For December- we all have to just do our best. Whatever we do will be better than if we weren't trying at all. If we fall off a bit, we'll get back to it in January and it won't make a different in the long run.

    1. You're right - we just do our best and move forward. My fitness class instructor was joking to us that we should sign up for our class in January and February because all the New Year resolution people will also sign up. She said something about how if we're here in November, we're really serious about it, but people in January aren't always people who stick with it. Even if things slow down in December, we're still coming out ahead for people who aren't doing anything in December, right?

  3. Engie, As I always seem to be saying, I think you racked up some regular commitment to movement despite being sick. And actually... the smaller segments (20 and 30 min sessions) you've logged this month are inspiring me to squeeze a quick lesson in before I head off to give exams!

  4. Yardwork counts! When I vacuum or mop and end up sweating like crazy - I COUNT IT!

  5. Being sick is not fun and messes up a lot of things - and yet, it's so important to get the rest your body needs. Especially with Covid. Hopefully December will be better in every way!

  6. When I had COVID 2 years ago, it took weeks for my breath to come back in a way that felt “normal” - give yourself time! I’m trying to do 10 min a day of movement in Dec as I await this next block of ankle PT (which will probably bump that up). It’s not as much movement as I’d want, but these weeks are wild so I’m going with the hope of “under promise, over deliver”.
