35-minute Yoga with Adriene bedtime yoga - Crazy day at work. Big winter storm. It was the only time I could fit it in!
Saturday, January 13
Big winter storm. My life is now that I am a person who shovels and trudges through knee-high snow with my dog. I did not work out officially, but all parts of my body are going to be incredibly sore tomorrow. I'm going to count this as a strength training day in my log.

25-minute Yoga with Adriene (Breath - day 16) - This video was almost entirely about breathwork and meditation. What I most noticed when I was doing it was that every time I would check in my jaw would be tense and my hands would be gripping my knees. I know they say you can't do meditation wrong, but I'm pretty sure I just did meditation wrong.
5-minute leg stretch video

Did you hit your January fitness goals?
You are killing it, Engie! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's hard for me sometimes, but I like this space as an accountability check.
DeleteI'm so happy for and proud of you! (I did not hit my goals, but I'm so glad to know someone who did!! :) )
ReplyDeleteIt was vacation for you! That's a form of self-care right there.
DeleteAMAzing! I did more yoga this January than last January, but still not enough. I just try to survive January, but moving more always helps if I can get myself to do it.
ReplyDeleteSo far in February, it's been almost all yoga for me. I can't be bothered to do anything else. It's good for us!
DeleteWELL DONE!!! Very proud of you, hugs.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I struggle every day with getting it done, so it's nice to see my progress laid out like this.
DeleteHa ha snow shoveling plus dog walking definitely counts as a workout! I don't know about Hannah, but Stepdog always seemed to have extra energy on snowy days. Something tells me that once Doggo starts taking formal walks that she's going to be a force to keep up with.
ReplyDeleteHannah likes snowy days, but she, surprisingly, did not care for the deep snow. She was not game for playing it in the way I thought she would be!
DeleteOh, Doggo is going to be a definite force of nature. I can't wait to hear about how she progresses!
As always this is amazing and being outside and doing winter things DEFINITELY counts. Goodness my heart rate has really gotten up there this week shoveling!
ReplyDeleteShoveling is HARD WORK. Isn't there a stat about how shoveling brings an increased risk of heart attack for vulnerable people?! Heart rates spike, that's for sure.
DeleteGreat job, as usual. I see you did the CG deadbug workout- I need to start doing that again. I'm laughing at you doing meditation wrong. Since I don't meditate I'm not really qualified to speak, but I'm pretty sure the fact that you noticed all that tension means you did it RIGHT.
ReplyDeleteThat CG workout is so misleading. It starts off and I think to myself that I could this all day and by minute five I'm dying. It's really the perfect difficulty level and length for a core workout.
DeleteUgh. Meditation. I'm not succeeding in that goal this quarter. But I need it more than ever!
Way to go. I love that you included photos. Isn't it motivating to document this? I am so proud of you. Also, snow shoveling definitely counts as a strength workout.
ReplyDeleteIt is motivating to track it! It's also fun to count it all up at the end of the year.
DeleteQuestion from the peanut gallery! (OF COURSE)
ReplyDeleteWhere do you do the WERQ workout? Is that at the community center? Online? Do you make it up? :)
(And, duh, of COURSE dog-related outdoor activities + shoveling = exercise... why did you even ask?)
I do Werq through our local health care collab - it's virtual, but synchronous, so I do it in our house, but it's 5:30 - 6pm every Monday night. https://www.forthealthcare.com/class/werq/
