Bestest Friend and I are doing a blog project. Every day we will write a blog post on a pre-determined theme chosen by a random noun generator. The theme for the thirtieth day of the month is "Depression."

As an antidote to the dread I feel as September rolls around, Hannah and I went on another playdate with Humphrey and his human. Things went just as badly well as they had last week at the start, with Hannah bullying poor Humps for the first 5-10 minutes. But then something magical happened and Humphrey started puppy bowing towards Hannah and initiating play and then they wandered around together as Humphrey tried to copy everything Hannah did.
Progress. I think?
There was a Great Dane at the park named George. I don't know why I think it's so funny when dogs are named people names. My own dog has a person name! But George? It just tickled me.

All right, back to the guessing game. Humphrey is about eight months old and weighs about what Hannah does (maybe a tad bit under 50 pounds). How big do you think he's going to get? (Look at those paws!)
"Puppy bowing" --adorbs! Those fake sneezes to show they're playing are so cute too. Humps (LOL) is going to be huge, isn't he?!
ReplyDeleteThe fake sneezing!! Why do they do that? It's so cute.
DeleteDefinitely progress! I'm guessing Humphrey will end up around 70-80 pounds.
ReplyDeleteI hope he retaliates and bullies Hannah when he gets bigger. Payback is coming her way.
DeleteHee hee! I always like it when pets have people names. Of course, we have a cat named Muffin but that was NOT MY IDEA. I wanted to keep the name her foster mom gave her, Greta- but my kids overruled me. Oh well. Humphrey and Hannah are going to be best friends, I just know it! I don't have much experience with dogs so I'm not going to hazard a guess about his weight- I'll go with Nicole's answer.
ReplyDeleteI do not envy Humphrey's owner if he gets that big. He's a pretty clumsy boy now - I hope he gets more graceful as he gets older!
DeleteThe beginning of a beautiful friendship! Our dog went through a phase where she was very shy around other dogs, which lined up with when our neighbors got a puppy - shy dog plus curious puppy were not a good mix. Fast forward to today and lately our dog has chilled out and seems to like being around other dogs. The neighbor dog is grown up now, so they're much better companions.
ReplyDeleteHannah has historically had a very low tolerance for puppy energy. She gets along fine with most dogs at the dog park, but puppies and huskies are problematic. *shrug* Humphrey will grow up and not be a puppy and maybe they'll be boon companions.
DeleteSuch progress!! Yay! I hope things keep moving in the right direction!
ReplyDeletePet names are so interesting. We have known several people with dogs names Abby - which is my sister's name. One was a neighbor that lived just down from my parents lake home so when they yelled for their dog, human Abby would be like - who is yelling for me? George is a unique name for a dog!
In my FIL's old neighborhood, there were dogs that shared both of my husband's sister's names, so whenever you'd hear their names, it would be a 50/50 on if it were referring to a dog or someone in our family! It's so funny. I've never met a dog with my name. I think I would laugh hysterically if I did.
DeleteI went for a walk with my neighbor today and met her cats and dog when I got back. One of her cats is named George! I instantly thought of you! I can't remember the other cat's name but the dog's name is Bridgett!
DeleteGeorge! Such a funny name!
DeleteAh, so happy to hear there is some progress being made between Hannah and Humphrey! <3 And yeah, George is a funny name for a dog... not sure why.
ReplyDeleteI love the puppy bowing! Hannah has a friend, Hannah has a friend!! I'm gonna guess he's going to be 75lbs of love.
ReplyDeleteLolo has a friend who adopted a Doberman, she's full grown and her name is Susie. I LOVE THAT SO MUCH!!
Buddies! YAY! I love real names for pets, too. Hence, Simon the dog. :) Hannah and Zelda are excellent options, too. I'm not a fan of "traditional" weirdo pet names, to be honest.
