May We Be Forgiven by A.M. Homes

I listened to May We Be Forgiven by A.M. Homes because it was the Women's Prize for Fiction winner in 2012.

You ever finish a book and wonder what exactly you read? This is a dark comedy? Family drama? Satire? Hm.

Harry Silver is a middle-aged history professor who specializes in Richard Nixon. His brother, a successful television executive, gets into a car accident and while he's recuperating, Harry sleeps with his wife and when his brother finds them in flagrante delicto, he shoots and kill her. Harry is in charge of his niece and nephew and all the dominoes of this family's life start to fall. Soon Harry is divorced, fired, and has a stroke. But don't worry because this family will take a trip to South Africa, adopt an elderly couple and the child who was left orphaned after the original car accident, and there will be a happy ending. Along the way there's random internet sex, a missing woman, newly discovered Nixon documents, and a teacher molesting a child.

WTF is this?

I don't know.
