1.1 Hat - Craft

It's NaBloPoMo!  Lots of people are writing a post every day this month. Go visit San's site if you want to sign up. I'm doing it.  And, ahem, I guess I'll be doing more than that!

******************

From June 2014 until June 2015, my best friend and I did a blog project in which we wrote a blog post on a pre-determined theme every day. I was just visiting her last weekend and she had this scheme that she wanted to do it AGAIN, so here we are. We're going to do it.  I'm scared. Don't worry. I'll still try to post book reviews and the like, so occasionally I'll post more than once a day, which sounds just...crazy.

We wrote the number 1-31 on a piece paper and generated nouns with a random generator and here are our topics.

1. Hat
2. Entertainment
3. Direction
4. Information
5. Drawing
6. Reflection
7. Contact
8. Art
9. Location
10. Judgment
11. Stranger
12. Complaint
13. Failure
14. Control
15. Volume
16. Instruction
17. Method
18. Winner
19. Library
20. Message
21. Decision
22. Safety
23. Atmosphere
24. Family
25. Relationship
26. Moment
27. Priority
28. Meaning
29. Song
30. Depression
31. Activity

I'm not sure why one of these nouns couldn't be "dog" so we could write stories about our dogs, but here we go. Day #1. The theme is hat.

****************

My favorite hat is a Craft hat that my husband bought for me before we were even married. I wear it all the time.

I used to have some pride. Now I just pose by every metal sculpture I see.

It's got some windproofing, fits my tiny head, and looks cute. I wear it in the fall, under my big hat in the winter, and in the spring. It's a three-season hat.

Do you have a favorite hat? Have you ever posed in front of a sculpture of a bison?

  1. This list of prompts is so fun! What a great idea.
I don't really have a favourite hat for myself, but my 7-year old LOVES the fuzzy "bear" hats with little ears. He has had one in varying sizes practically since birth and I just love it. I know he's going to start to refuse to wear it some winter soon, but it's warm, cozy, covers his chin/neck...and is just heartbreakingly adorable. I mean...a HAT WITH EARS?!! I just pulled it out of the winter bin earlier in the week and it gave me warm fuzzies. Fingers crossed he's willing to wear it at least one more year.
I've posed in front of the bull on Wall Street in NYC, but never a bison...

    1. Oh, it's so nice that he has a favorite hat! Do enjoy it while it lasts. Although, maybe he'll continue to wear hats with ears as an adult! LOL!

  2. I LOVE this list and cannot wait to see the posts it generates! You are so cute, posing behind that metal bison. A good hat is hard to find. Glad you found one.

    1. I have a small head for an adult and a good hat that fits IS hard to find. I keep having nightmares that I lose this one.

  3. YES I have a favorite hat!! I don't have many winter hats, actually, but I have one that I bought at a gift shop in Ireland at the airport on my way home (in I think... 2018 when I went to visit my sister). I LOVE it so much. It's not tight and fits me so well and I love how it looks on me. I don't always love how I look in winter hats, for some reason. But I like this one so much! It's pretty much the only one I wear, although my mom just bought me a red stocking hat for my birthday with the intent that I can wear it during the holiday season. Which should be cute.

    1. I have a purple hat with a pom pom that I wear over this Craft hat a lot during the winter, but it's way too big for me and that's part of the reason I love it so much. I'm hoping we'll catch sight of the red stocking hat in the coming months.

  4. Wow- you are HARD CORE, taking NaBloPoMo up a notch! I definitely don't have a favorite hat. Living in Florida, I rarely wear them. I like yours though. Now I'm curious to see what your friend wrote about hats!

    1. Oh, I never thought about how hard this would be for warm weather folks. Maybe you could write about visors or running hats or something?

  5. Yes I have an Official Favorite Hat, and by default it's a 3 season hat since I live in 3 season hat territory. The #1 thing that it has going for it is that it's a men's knit cap so it's long enough to pull down over my ears when it's cold. I keep my #2 favorite hat in my car at all times as a backup for those times when I forget to bring #1 favorite hat.

    1. I do not have a backup hat for my favorite hat and I really do worry about what I will do if I ever lose it. New life goal: never lose Craft hat!

  6. Can't wait to see what spin you take on these words! I bought a love your melon hat last year and like it pretty well. But I've only had it for part of a season so it's pretty new to my winter collection! I am very sad about the pair of fleece-lined mittens I left in a waiting room 2 years ago. They were a gift from a Canadian friend from when the Olympics were in Vancouver. I have not found anything similar to those mittens!!

    1. Ooooohhh...I have a pair of red fleece-lined mittens with the maple leaf on them from the Vancouver Olympics. I actually don't like them because the fleece makes the eczema on my hand irritated. Are those the ones you are talking about? I could probably send you my pair!

  7. Oh, you're up for the challenge, girl... not just 30 posts in 30 days, but writing a post on a "random" noun... that will be interesting! :)

My favorite hat is a Boston Red Sox Baseball Cap, I bought in Boston in 1998. Does that count?

    1. That definitely counts! That hat is nearly a quarter of a century old and probably has seen some things! You should write a post about it!

  8. I really like the idea with the noun prompts. Looking forward to reading your posts :)
My favorite hat is currently missing. I made myself one that went with a cardigan I made recently, it is grey and soft, not scratchy at all and I know it is somewhere. Already curious to see where it will show up again.

    1. I would be so frantic if I lost my favorite hat and you're merely "curious" about it! I should try to emulate your chill.

    2. Maybe I should mention I have many hats and scarfs (no hair so I always wear something on my head) so one less still leaves plenty of options ;) I miss it, but it will resurface eventually.

  9. This is a great list! I am looking forward to following your NaBloPoMo month with all your prompts :-).

My favourite hat has a big bobble on top. I realized it's about 10 years old now... I may be getting too old for a bobble hat.

    1. My winter hat has a big bobble, too. I refuse to think I'm too old for anything.

I was wearing striped tights at Christmas one year. The next day, my SIL jokingly told my niece (maybe 4 or 5?) that she should wear striped tights while she was little because you can't when your older and I was sitting right there! I told my niece she can wear whatever she wants for as long as she wants!

  10. This list and the ida to post about those random objects and topics is so fun. In case I run out of ideas I'll circle back and just pick on. So glad to read along.

    1. We'll see how I feel about these topics in month ten. I have a feeling some are going to be harder (failure, meaning) than others (library).

  11. I could post about hats, but I have done so previously, so for one day, and I stuck postless. WHen I carpooled with two family studies teachers I was told in no uncertain terms that there is a difference between hats and caps. I have both for both seasons.

  12. What an interesting (and challenging list) you guys came up with. I love your hat; it's super cute! My favorite hat is a ball cap that says: Mama Cita. You know, because I'm so Spanish. 😳

  13. I like these prompts! I am sure I can do this for next year. I am unclear about the random generator so I will look into it. I have a couple of hats I wear for running and then some for wearing with my Winter coat.

  14. Gracious, I don't think I've ever considered whether I have a favorite hat. I have a fleece beanie that I like. I bought one with a pom pom years ago but it's just... not me. I am not a pom pom kind of person. ;) I DO, however, have a favorite neck cuff - turtle fur, and I think I got it in middle school? I would be distraught if it ever disappeared!!
