Ideally we go to the grocery store once a week. We plan every meal and snack and buy just what we need and it works for us.
Unless they don't have an essential, not easily substituted ingredient at our main store. Then we are forced to go to the grocery store after work to buy that ingredient.
We needed polenta and our normal store doesn't carry a brand that is labeled gluten free (although they should all be gluten free, we don't take chances with cross contamination in production facilities), so that was that. We now have polenta and two peppers that I will cut up for lunch tomorrow and Wednesday.
On the bright side, there were hardly any people at the store, so at least it was a quick errand. Now I need to go cook that polenta. We make a delicious polenta lasagna with sausage and portobello mushrooms, along with a ricotta, lemon, rosemary, and Parmesan cheese mixture.
