There’s a song by country artist Blake Shelton called “Mine Would Be You.” The song is about a romantic love, of course, but whenever I hear it, I think about my Bestest Friend. She is the best damn thing I’ve ever lucked in to and we definitely have had more than our fair share of road trips singing like fools and making up our own words. I love my husband deeply and truly, but my first and longest true love is my Bestest Friend.
We just get each other. It’s the kind of friendship that
just picks up right where it’s left off even when you don’t see each other for
months at time.
We make each other laugh. The inside jokes come fast and furiously. Does anyone else think it’s funny to hear “Cookie
vomited” or “we’re going to see the bars”? No. Because it’s funny only to us.
She’s got my back and I’ve got hers.
When I call her on Christmas Day, sobbing over family drama,
I’m laughing by the time I get off the phone.
She’s a good chicken.
