4.4 Place - Back to School

Bestest Friend and I are in the middle of a blog project. Each day of the month we will post a picture on a pre-determined theme and write a little something about it. The theme for the fourth day of each month is "Place."

This week, I have gotten up with the alarm, showered, including washing and blow drying my hair, put on makeup, and gone to school.  This was the view from the podium where I stood, pretending I knew what I was doing.
I mean, I do know what I'm doing, but the first day of class get to everyone, right?  You're all rusty and as you're handing out the syllabus and explaining your no laptop policy, you end up overexplaining as if someone is questioning your pedagogy when no one actually is and it all ends up a garbled mess.  Mentally you're still on summer time, even though your syllabi are completed and your lecture notes are all queued up.
After I made it through that class (no, really - I don't take late work), I sort of stumbled my way back to my office, nodding and smiling to everyone I passed (what if he's in my class from yesterday and I don't remember his face and he thinks I'm snubbing him?) and wondering what ghoul had taken over my body to allow me to be this paranoid about things that are never going to happen.
Zelda the Cat is not ready for school either.  This morning when I went to put everything in my tote bag, she laid on it and stared at me as if I were a monster for daring to consider moving it (and her).  Clever kitty. I would rather have stayed home with her.

  1. I love that I am very, very close friends with a college professor, and friends with another college professor (your hubby) AND distant friends with a THIRD college professor at OSU and a FOURTH one at Oklahoma. I feel super academic.
