What does a Sunday look like in my world?
7:30am - Wake up without an alarm. Dr. BB has been up for a bit and he was reading his Kindle, so we rolled out of bed, pulled up the covers to "make it" and started our morning.
I went downstairs where I brushed Zelda and then weighed her. She's 10.64 pounds, which is the most she has weighed since her radiation treatment. It has been kind of difficult to get her to eat her dinner recently, but I'm not going to worry about it much if her weight is staying stable.
Then I walked Hannah. We were out for about 45 minutes. I listened to an episode of "Did Furbys Spy on Us?" while we meandered along the riverwalk.
8:30am - We're back. I feed Hannah and get myself breakfast. By 9, I'm sitting down at my laptop to work on blog posts for the week for an hour.
10:00am - I tear myself away from the computer to go brush my teeth, wash my face, and get dressed (in workout clothes). I collect and start laundry, iron two items of clothing that I want to wear this week, and wander downstairs. There I ask Dr. BB to assist me with cutting Hannah's nails, and then vacuum/sweep the main level. Then I fill the bird feeders outside.
11:40am - The part of the day I have been dreading has arrived. I need to give Hannah a bath. She hates it so much. After much running away from me (and some choice words under my breath about dog ownership), she is finally washed. I walk her around the neighborhood in a futile attempt to get her to be a bit more dry before I let her go in the house.
12:15pm - Back inside. I eat lunch. We swap out the laundry. I stare into space for a few minutes wondering how to make my dog hate baths less. I search the house to find the cat because at least I know people on the street won't be reporting me for abuse of the cat.
1:20pm - I sit back at my computer to work on my blog some more until the last load of laundry is dried.
2:00pm - The dryer buzzed. I head off to fold the last load of clothes.
2:20pm - Start my workout. I do a 30 minute total body (which means more like 45 minutes for me with additional rest and changing weights) and 25 minute yin yoga.
3:40pm- Workout is over. I message my accountability and head downstairs for the best part of the day. It's time to "read" on the couch, which actually means take a nap with Zelda.
5:35pm - Feeding the girls and training Hannah. It sounds like this should be easy, but Hannah needs her gross medication mixed with pumpkin and Zelda takes ages to eat two tablespoons of food, so this ended up being A Thing.
6:00-7:30pm - Make and eat dinner. After dinner, I make some pistachio date balls as an after work snack for the week. They don't look appetizing here, but I promise they're delicious.
7:40pm - Shower.
8:05pm - We start the second episode of Silo on AppleTV.
9:06pm - Hannah and I go around the block before bed. Drippy, dreary night. Hannah is displeased to be outside.
9:18pm - I take my evening medications and brush my teeth.
9:40pm - Finish the last of this post. After this I'll do my line-a-day and goal journals for the day and then do a final check of the kitchen before heading to bed. Fingers crossed lights out by 10:15.

Did you have a chore heavy Sunday or was it more fun heavy? What book are you currently reading?

Sunday was definitely a chore heavy day. Ironing no less!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm convinced that dogs are just like people only more so, and they either like baths or they don't. Stepdog was a wonderfully well adjusted canine who loved the world, but turned into a feral wildebeest when it was bath time. Doggo has issues with just about everything on this planet except for the bath. There's no rhyme or reason to it.
After a week of "shoulds" I decided to go the fun route yesterday. I went on a bike ride in the morning and finally checked out my neighborhood bike trail. In the afternoon I hit the couch for some veg time on YouTube, and then I met up with Hubs and the boys for Father's Day.
Books! I'm still reading a chapter a day of Showboat, but I'll be finished soon. I'm also reading State of Terror by Louise Penny and Hillary Clinton.
My days just drift along in comparison.
ReplyDeleteI need to do one of these because my Sundays just trickle by in a flurry of house admin tasks. I am thinking of getting a giant steamer to do away with ironing once and for all....
ReplyDeleteOooh I love posts like this. I just wrote about how dirty Rex is and he doesn't go to the groomer's until THURSDAY. He hates water and I have never bathed him, but he loves the groomer. The situation is dire around here. My biggest takeaway is that you iron things! I haven't ironed anything in years, in fact I got rid of our ironing board when we moved. All my clothes are of the non-iron variety. Other than weeding, Sunday was not a super chore-heavy day for me. But weeding! It's a big job.
ReplyDeleteI haven't ironed in years. I bought a nifty handheld steamer by Conair and I rarely even need to use that. Lots of times, a quick spin in the dryer with a damp towel does the trick. The last time our iron was used was by Rick for some project he was fiddling with in his basement workshop.
ReplyDeleteWhen Sam bathes Zydrunas, he just puts him in the shower. Z loves water and loves his bath.
I just finished up The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout, and I'm ready to start Ann Patchett's Whistler today.
Saturday is my chore heavy day- Sunday is family stuff. Church, shopping, yesterday we had new tires put on the car, baking cake and rolls, and watching a little TV with the cat on my lap. A little nap might have happened. Too much rain to go outside at all.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad cats don't need baths on a regular basis- I had to give mine baths when they had fleas last year and it did no go well, for my arms or the shower curtain. I can't imagine washing a reluctant dog; but Hannah looks lovely for your efforts.
Phew. For a minute there I was worried your day was going to be ALL chores, but no! You had a lovely couch read/nap with cat- one of my favorite activities. Actually your day sounds like a nice mix of chores and relaxation, and some of the "chores" are kind of fun, like walking Hannah and working on the blog. If my Sunday gets TOO relaxing, I feel like a sloth and then it's not fun anymore.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question- I just finished Nicole's favorite book, The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood and am now rereading an Agatha Christie.
You seem to be so nicely organised with your blog writing! My main problem is that I'm not, and tend to get to the end of the week and oops, perhaps I should have posted something other than the fitness recap - I think I have a lot to learn about planning and writing in advance.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your dog's health problem and needing radiation. And regarding baths, cats are very convenient creatures since they take care of all that themselves. But when our cat was little, she loved being in the shower with my husband!
My Sunday was all about garden work and enjoying the sunshine. It involved a lot of tedious work involving weeds, but it was so nice to have it done and finally have a relaxing space in front of the house.
Or was it the cat? I got confused - I read about radiation and then saw the photo of the dog!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds a lot like my Sundays too. This is the only day that my husband have off together and everything gets crammed into this day. Laundry, workouts, yard chores, etc etc. I wish I had a 3 day weekend because then I would have a day for chores, a day for rest, and a day to work on those projects that never get done because I don't have time!
ReplyDeleteI hate ironing with the heat of a thousand suns. It is one of my least-favourite jobs. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI love the feeling of a shower, but hate dealing with wet hair.
Sunday was SO hot over here. We went to Bristol, England, on a day trip. There was a gas leak and a big chunk of the city ended up being evacuated while we were there, so it was... an adventure. Thankfully, we were fine and it didn't end up impacting our day too much which was a real blessing.
I had to work on Sunday, so no chores for me other than general pick up and kid shuttling to activities.
ReplyDeleteRight now I’m reading Sing, Unburied, Sing, trying to read through the pile of books I pick up at Little Free Libraries.
I admire that you iron things. I don’t know that I even have an ironing board. I guess my clothes are just wrinkled….
Wow, what a chore heavy day! But then again, I feel like most days can get chore heavy pretty quickly. I need to deadhead some flowers right now. Good that you’re organized about your blog too. I intended to do a ‘Friday Randomness’ post on Friday but then didn’t start it and thus didn’t finish it. Oh well. More randomness for this week I suppose!
ReplyDeleteI’ve never had a dog that *likes* baths. I used to bathe my lab Samantha in the tub, and she would escape and run around the house like a wild thing. It was funny, but also really messy.
I’m listening to ‘The Calamity Club’ which is good but really long. I think it’s almost 30 hours and I’m kind of ready to be done. I’m reading ‘Whistler’ on my Kindle app which has reminded me of how much I hate reading books on a device, which is why I got rid of my Kindle and am now stuck using the app, and thankfully I had a gift card to Bookshop.org, and have ordered it for myself. WHEW.
To be clear, I did not buy it on Amazon to read on my Kindle, I got it from Libby.
