May 2026 Photo A Day: Week Three

Saturday, May 16 - It's too hot for Hannah. We are literally less than a block from our house and she just can't do it anymore.

Sunday, May 17 - Anne and Birchie came over to visit! They bribed Hannah with chicken and we worked on a jigsaw puzzle. And Hannah and I are not as good at doggy selfies as Birchie is.

She looks so worried!

Monday, May 18 - For exciting reasons, I cannot attend my regular fitness class tomorrow after work. My fitness instructor holds a class at a neighboring town on Mondays, though, so I left work early and attended that one instead. There was a yellow goat at the park where we were throwing ourselves about.

Tuesday, May 19 - I went to an author event with Sarah and her friend Shannon at the Madison Public Library. It was so much fun!

Wednesday, May 20 - Listen, friends. An old dog does not want to go for a walk. An old dog wants to lay down in the sun.

Thursday, May 21 - THIS CAT. I can't tell you how much I want to squeeze her because of her cuteness.

Friday, May 22 - This area was underwater last month! I love how grumpy Hannah looks in all these photos. She's SO SERIOUS. I frequently wonder what it would be like to have a goofy dog.

When's the last time you were at the library? Took a picture of a dog?

  1. Took a pic of 2 dogs and their walkers yesterday. It will get posted sometime.

  2. The last picture that I took of a dog is in this post! The next picture that I take of a dog will be tonight when I get home. Ooh and the last time that I was at the library was on my way out of town to return a book.

Hannah has a lot of responsibilities. She has to vet all of the people coming into her house, and she has to supervise all puzzle activities. You'd look serious too if you were carrying her load!

    1. Hannah does have a lot of jobs. Yesterday we had some guys out to work on the yard and it was constant vigilance all day! I guess I should be more understanding of her stresses.

  3. Ooh, Zelda!!! Yes, she is so so so so so so cute. I agree with Birchie- Hannah has a lot on her plate. She doesn't have time for goofiness.

    1. Zelda is perfection. I want to squeeze her really hard and give her all the kisses. She does not want that, though.

  4. HANNAH'S FACE IN THAT SELFIE. OMG. I am dying. It's so expressive, and that expression says "what are we DOING here, people? WHY are we doing this?"
Rex is a cold-weather dog. In the summer I only walk him along the very shaded greenway by the creek, and even then he will sometimes just flop down in the shade for a few minutes. This usually leads to awkward conversations with people passing by wondering why I'm just standing there with an immobile 100 pound dog.

    1. I know. Hannah does not understand selfies. I get it.

Yes, Hannah is also a cold weather dog. As soon as it's warmer than 65F/18C, Hannah's OUT. She'll reluctantly walk around the block, but any further and you are PUSHING IT.

  5. Poor Hannah, she suffers so. She’s such a good girl though.

I don’t know the last picture I took of a dog, but on my walk the other day I was very happy because I saw Aragorn the Greyhound! He’s a neighborhood rescue, and SUCH a good, patient boy, and I hadn’t seen him in quite a while. Then a couple of weeks ago I saw one of his people walking alone, looking kind of down, and I thought all of the old dog bad thoughts. Then I saw him and I was SO HAPPY! His people have no idea that I care, but I do.

  6. I feel like Hannah is Phil’s photo spirit animal. He hates getting his photo taken and doesn’t really smile for photos.

I was at the library this am! We go every Saturday morning. It’s such a great weekend routine for us. The boys check out books, we check on the progress of the puzzle in the adult area, and the boys play with the toys. I’m now able to read while they play as they usually don’t need me to help or do anything!
