It's Cool Bloggers Walking Club (CBWC) time! Hosted by Elisabeth, we're trying for ten minutes of intentional movement every day.
This week I had more than just my usual canine companion with me on walks. Woot for new walking partners!

| This is what a dog who is sniffing on a windy day looks like. She could smell all the way to Canada, I'm pretty sure. |

38 minute morning walk with Hannah along the river
48 minute afternoon walk with the dog. The word "walk" is pretty subjective. It was very breezy and she mostly stood around sniffing.
13 minute walk before bed in the rain
46 minute walk with Hannah on an absolutely beautiful morning. There may have been duck chasing by the river.
30 minute afternoon walk with Dr. BB and Hannah - It was a lovely day and afternoon. It started to cloud up and I'm pretty sure it's going to rain all night, but it was nice while it lasted

| April 10 and I'm still wearing my winter boots. Hannah's not wearing boots, though. |
Friday, April 10
37 minute walk with Hannah on a rainy morning
16 minute walk around the block with Hannah before bed
Saturday, April 11
50 minute walk with H on a lovely morning - don't be fooled, though, I was still wearing my winter boots and coat
13 minute walk with H before bed
Sunday, April 12
37 minute walk with Hannah on a warm muggy morning
24 minute walk with Hannah in the afternoon - it was really windy and all Hannah wanted to do was sniff!
Monday, April 13
Bestest Friend and I drove to Chicago where we did some fun activities! More to come on that later. Meanwhile, I was walking through neighborhoods with beautiful brownstones and gorgeous schools like this. I gave myself credit for 60 minutes of walking, but that was an estimate.
Tuesday, April 14
Look at Chicago showing off!! It has been such perfect weather! This was on the way from the bus stop to the Museum Campus. I was wearing a dress and sandals and living my absolute best life. We did a bit more walking today in short bursts, but it had to be at least 75 minutes.

Have you had an unusual walking partners recently? Have you ever been to a city with absolute perfect weather just on the right days you were there?

Hannah is so gorgeous sniffing in the wind. I wonder how far the smells do come from. I look forward to hearing about your weekend away. We have had some absolutely phenomenal weather travelling. Like Almost no rain for two weeks in Wales which I think is pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteTwo weeks of no rain sounds perfect! I love it when the weather works out for you when you're on the road.
DeleteYou are very consistent.
ReplyDeleteThat's all thanks to the dog.
DeleteHow close are you to Chicago? I'm glad you had some fun with your friend!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty close - 2 to 2.5 hours. I don't take nearly enough advantage of how close it is to me.
DeleteDoggo has been doing lots of sniffing here as well. The nose knows what it knows!
ReplyDeleteA CHI weekend!!! I can't wait to hear more about it.
I love it when she just stands there and sniffs. I want to know what she's learning!
DeleteOh, I do love Chicago. It's been far too long since I've been there.
ReplyDeleteWe've had some 78-80 degree days here, and while it's too hot for April, I don't dare complain. It has been lovely to shed all those wintry layers.
Hannah sniffing--wonderful! I love your patience with her while she does all her Dog Jobs.
I DO NOT COMPLAIN. I'm wearing a dress and sandals? I'm a happy lady and no word of complaint will come from me.
DeleteHannah's walks are for her and unless I'm in a hurry to be somewhere, she's allowed to do whatever she wants as long as it doesn't put her or someone else in danger? Sniff forever? Great. Lay down and watch cars. Fine. Eat the greenery? FULL STOP, dog, you'll get sick. LOL. I don't know if I'm patient, so much as excited that she's a good dog in the house because I exhaust her during her walks.
Ooh! Chicago is such an amazing city if you catch it when the weather is good. I hope you had a great time (or are you still there?) I like the transition from winter boots to sandals!
ReplyDeleteI had IT ALL this week, Jenny. We've settled into hotter than normal AND I'M LOVING IT.
DeleteYou are doing so great with the walking challenge. I, on the other hand, am not... I have been to a good amount of Orange Theory Fitness classes but besides that my walking has been pretty sparse...
ReplyDeleteI am so glad the weather cooperated while you were in Chicago. I can't wait to hear more about your trip and what museum(s) you went to! I went to Shedd w/ Will last summer but would like to check out more museums on future visits.
Pre-kids, Phil and I flew into Philadelphia and spent 2 nights there before driving to a wedding in NJ. It was October and the weather was stunning. Plus, we saw Sylvester Stallone at the restaurant where we had dinner on our last night. It was WILD! We really liked Philadelphia but the ideal weather really helped out.
I really struggle with the Shedd. It's SO crowded and loud and (sorry about this) filled with children. I also really struggle with aquariums and zoos. I know they do good work, but I do feel bad for those animals.
DeleteOh, wow! I don't know if I've ever been to Philly. I've flown into Pittsburgh a fair amount because my mom's side of the family leaves near there, but I don't know that I've trekked over to Philly. Maybe next time.
*waves madly at Hannah from Canada, hoping I smell good*
ReplyDeleteI barely have Lucy as a walking partner - little princess does NOT like walking in the rain. Also, rain re-activates the skunk smell slightly, so man, i hope it stops raining soon.
Eve confused the hell out of the family group chat by saying she was going to Chicago on Saturday. It was Chicago the musical, in Toronto.
We have been So Lucky because it's been rainy at night here. It might have drips and drabs here and there during the day, but our April showers/thunderstorms have been nighttime adventures. Thank goodness!
DeleteLook at you, walking in all the types of weather that spring is subjecting us to. Hooray for Chicago welcoming you with some great weather. Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI either walk or ride the stationary bike during this CBWC. I'd say my biggest success this week was managing to fit 5 littles in a quad stroller and then walking with them for a few miles. Woot Woot!
Monday and Tuesday were PERFECT days. Just perfect. I was excited to see so much activity in the city while we were there.
DeleteIt looks like Hannah is living her best life, sniffing all the smells of the world! My walking partners have been a variety of spring birds returning from their vacations down south. Meadowlarks, robins, curlews, killdeer, and millions of geese have all arrived, and I love it!
ReplyDeleteYou suffered a lot this winter with the weather (not you specifically, I mean tons of people in your general area) so you have EARNED some beautiful weather. I’m glad you’re getting it, and that you had fun with your friend in Chicago! I have never been, though I would like to go someday.
ReplyDeleteHannah gets so many sniffs! What a lucky girl. Poor Mulder (and Genevieve, I’m just this way), I never let him sniff to his heart’s content. Our walks were for exercise, not for sniffing. Now I know better, and how much that sniffing means to a dog, maybe I would do it differently? Maybe not, I needed my walk. SIGH. Anyway, Mulder didn’t know that Hannah was out there getting all of the sniffs in, so he didn’t know what he was missing.
