7.6 Sky - Obesession: Capitol Building

Bestest Friend and I are in the middle of a blog project. Each day of the month we will post a picture on a pre-determined theme and write a little something about it. The theme for the sixth day of each month is "Sky."

Counting today, there are only three Saturdays between now and Christmas. So I felt no guilt at all about leaving the boy to recuperate on the couch with the kitty while I went to the Winter Farmers' Market. It's the last time the vendors will sell anything until May.

I bought honey, marshmallows, lots and lots of squash, some Japanese turnips, cabbage, and some crafty little ornaments. It was delightful. I pet a giant  Bernese Mountain Dog, frantically tried not to be in any buildings when carolers began "singing," and considered just how angry the boy would be if I were to buy all the pies the seven-year old with the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen was hocking for his school.
Unfortunately, I had to rush through the Market because I had agreed to meet a co-worker to do a Santa Fun Run in Madison with her.  Originally the boy was supposed to go with us, but we persevered without him. It was a gorgeous day, with full sunshine and clear skies.
Start!
We checked in, got our swag bag (which included way more stuff than I remember ever getting from previous races), and went to lunch before we took off.  For the record, I was wearing my winter boots and jeans and since neither my co-worker or I actually "run," we happily brought up the end of the crowd with the 14-week old golden retriever ("it's like walking with a celebrity," his human friend said) and the ladies wearing tutus ("did you make those?").
We started almost 15 minutes late. Not that I was counting or anything.
And, at the end, in true Wisconsin fashion, we went to the Masonic temple for beer and brats. I always thought the whole beer, cheese, and sausage thing was just a stereotype of Wisconsin until I moved here, but let me just tell you that it's a stereotype for a reason.
And, yes, I did wear a hat with elf ears the entire ride home, complete with a stop at a gas station.  That's how we do.

Today's Christmas song is The Twelve Days of Christmas, which was playing over and over and over again while we waited for the race to start.
