3.12 Dream - Garth Brooks!!!

Bestest Friend and I are in the middle of a blog project. Each day of the month we will post a picture on a pre-determined theme and write a little something about it. The theme for the twelfth day of each month is "Dream."

If I had to pick a favorite, if you absolutely forced me to pick a favorite, I would pick Conway Twitty as the ultimate in songwriters and singers (and now I will be singing "That's My Job" for the rest of the day). Unfortunately Conway Twitty died in 1993, so I will never see him live.  But Garth Brooks, who is definitely in my Top Ten of country artists, IS alive and he's going on tour again and I GOT TICKETS for next month for me and The Angry Taoist and we are going to go and sing, dance, and country it up our way to a dream coming true.

I've always been mildly upset with myself for never going to see Garth in concert when I was in college, but I was young and didn't realize that Garth might decided to RETIRE before I got up the gumption to go to a loud event filled with people who might touch me.  So this is it - my chance to redeem my past failures and attend a concert with The Angry Taoist with music we both love with all our hearts.
I don't know my favorite Garth song.  It used to be "Which One of Them," but lately I've been relistening to "The Red Strokes," "She's Every Woman," the entire Sevens album ("She's Gonna Make It" and "Belleau Wood" and "How You Ever Gonna Know" and "I Don't Have to Wonder" just make me scream in excitement), and "More Than A Memory" on repeat.
I better hear at least one of those songs on September 13.

  1. "But legend tells to this very day (legend tells to the very day) that shots were coming from an alley way!" Twang twang! "No one knows who held the gun, but there ain't no doubt if you as someone...In Lonesome Dove."

We all know the real title of "I Don't Have to Wonder" is "The Ring Song." Someone dared to ask if Garth was worth the airfare and all the driving, someone who listens to country music, and I was like, if not Garth, who the hell would be worth it?
