2.19 My Best Friend - We Believe in Nashville

Bestest Friend and I are embarking on a new blog project. Each day of the month we will post a picture on a pre-determined theme and write a little something about it. The theme for the nineteenth day of each month is "My Best Friend."

Me: Ugh. Breaking Bad. Everyone was despicable and it made me feel hopeless.
Her: I can see how the show would be challenging for someone with qualities such as yours.
Me: (ponders this for a minute) Qualities such as what?
Her: Your…gentleness.
(Shocked silence for a second.)
(Outbursts of laughter from both of us for a full minute.)
Me: Yeah, the first word people use to describe me is gentle.

It’s not always easy maintaining a long distance friendship.  I work weird hours that make it impossible for me to call after dinner and before bed when I assume everyone else does their communicating. Sometimes I forget about the one hour time difference and call smack dab in the middle of dinner or bathtime. Sometimes I put “call Bestest Friend” on the list and then I forget to do it.

But it’s always easy when we’re together. It’s like we’ve never been apart and we pick up right where we left off.  We don’t hold grudges, we don’t remind each other of that time the other person forgot to call, we don’t question each other’s choices or decisions. We laugh, we sing, and we know that it’s one for all and all for one.

But I still won’t root for the Cubs, no matter how cute that adorable logo is.  Go Tigers!

To see what Bestest Friend wrote about her best friend, check out her blog, Too Legit To Quit.   If she tells you how grumpy I get when I'm hungry or thirsty, it's all true.
