2.10 Work - Complete

Bestest Friend and I are in the middle of a blog project. Each day of the month we will post a picture on a pre-determined theme and write a little something about it. The theme for the tenth day of each month is "Work."

My goal is work out for 30-60 minutes at least four times a week. On days when I don’t work out, I do something small – a walk, a few minutes, of yoga, or something that gets me up and moving, but not necessarily up and sweaty.  But I’ve really been struggling to find something to do to keep my momentum going.  I used to do the EA Sports Active 2 on the Wii, but one of the heart rate monitors stopped working, so it basically makes the entire product worthless (and you can’t just buy one replacement monitor). I used to do a lot on the Wii Fit, but once I was done with rehabilitation on my leg, I couldn’t justify doing the low impact, low cardio exercises on the Wii Fit. Then I did a weightlifting routine for a few months, but the truth is that I could never get motivated to do the exercises because it bored me to tears.

Yes, I'm kind of embarrassed about the amount of dust. I don't want to talk about it.

Enter FitnessBlender’s YouTube channel. They have hundreds of routines in a variety of different lengths, skill levels, target areas, and fitness activities. Every day I type in something new I want to do (low impact aerobics if my leg is bothering me, legs and abs if I want to focus on lower body, whatever I want to do on that day) and dozens of routines comes up. I haven’t done the same thing in weeks and I never get bored.

I gather that FitnessBlender is already well known, but I really just discovered it, so I thought I’d share the resource. It’s entirely free and has been incredibly helpful to me.

Also, there’s nothing like the feeling of a tough workout that’s completed!

  1. I've never heard of this! I get so bored working out so I try to do outdoor activities instead like biking or hiking, but this week it has been raining every night so I'm stuck indoors. I'll check this out!
