1.9 Color - Pink

Bestest Friend and I are embarking on a new blog project. Each day of the month we will post a picture on a pre-determined theme and write a little something about it. The theme for the ninth day of each month is "Color."

In the middle of the winter, when everything outside is a shade of grey, I dream of green grass with pops of color from flowers and birds.  As soon as the flowers started blooming early last month, I started taking pictures of every variety I could find because it meant that the endless winter was over.

I wish I had taken the class in high school in which everyone learned how to identify trees. I tried to use an app on my phone to identify trees when we went on our daily walks, but I wasn't actually learning anything. My mother-in-law knows all the trees and all the plants and whenever I see her in the spring and summer months, all I do is quiz her. What's that tree? What's that flower?  What's that?

So, in my inexpert research, I have determined that this plant, that grows in front of my brother- and sister-in-law's house, is some variant of a weigala shrub.  But, of course, take it from me, I don't really know what I'm talking about.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  1. I would have guessed rhododendron, but I don't know either.

  2. If nothing else, I can list for you what's it's NOT. It's not tulips. Or roses. Or Queen Anne's Lace. Or hydrangeas. Or Gerbera daisies.
